30 Jul - It's a crying shame that none of us ever saw "Snatch" or "Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels" on the big screen in Malaysia – but here's our chance to catch Vinnie Jones at last! Having played numerous memorable roles in the past, we caught up with this increasingly sought after actor and illustrious ex-footballer through a phone interview from Los Angeles last week, where the infamous hardman spoke about his latest movie, "Midnight Meat Train". He was candid and sharp; and we managed to document one of the most hilarious interviews with him ever. Classic Vinnie!
Vinnie, greetings from Malaysia. How are you today?
Very well, cheers.
Where are you at the moment? Are you in an office? Are you in a car? Are you playing golf? What are you doing?
Well, I'm just watching... er... watching the TV.
First question then - what do you know about Malaysia?
Nothing!

What a shame. Let me help you. So you see, Malaysians who know nothing about football will identify you as the actor in "Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels", "Snatch" and also "Mean Machine" reruns on cable TV. What do you have to say about that?
Yea, it's amazing really I've actually lived two lives come to think of it. Some people know me only as an actor and they're surprised when they learn I was a professional footballer. Anyway it's pretty normal that people know me for one thing and not the other. Yea I'm pretty happy with both.
I'm a football fan myself and I know you since the Wimbledon days, Gazza's nuts and all that. So I'm actually half a fan and I'm trying not to sound too excited so you'd respect me.
Oh, that's fine mate. Keep your pants on (laughs)
Err, right. Anyway, the other thing about Malaysia is – not many of your movies make it here. We've got a very strict censorship system. So, we're quite excited to finally see you in a full feature at the cinemas. It's called "Midnight Meat Train", huh?
Yea, it's a full-on horror movie. I play a psycho killer named Mahogany.
Sounds a bit pornographic don't you think?
Well, er, it might be, but yea, I think they could've chosen the title a bit better.
Well, what would you have named it?
(Muffled sound, phone crackling)
Can you say that again please?
(Muffled sound, phone crackling) Yea, it's a full-on horror movie.

Okay never mind Vinnie, so do you talk a lot in the movie? Because in the trailers, you don't talk at all.
Nope, I don't talk. I just kill people.
(laughs) Alright, Vinnie. What is the toughest challenge in shooting the film?
Erm, there was lots and lots of blood. You keep having to clean that s**t up. Other than that, when you play a serial killer, you also have to be able to look like you can make people s**t in their pants.
How's Brooke Shields in the movie?
Yea she plays a great role. She … (utters spoiler)
Vinnie, you're impossible – I haven't watched it! How's the relationship between you and the director? Do you enjoy working with him?
Yea he's one of the coolest guys I've ever worked for. He knows exactly what he wanted, he was very laid back.
What would you say is the best thing about "Midnight Meat Train" compared to your other films, for your fans?
I play a serial killer. What's there not to like? (laughs) Okay, seriously now. So I play a serial killer and I don't think people have seen this from me. The horror fans have seen the trailer and they love it, from what I understand. It's just a great film, mate.

Just a bit more about yourself now. What are you currently doing?
I'm going to be in this movie called "Year One". It's a big comedy with Jack Black.
Oh my goodness - Jack Black. Are you doing comedies now?
It's a big movie - a million dollar movie… for Columbia Pictures. So erm, it's big stuff, you know.
I'll look forward to that one. Do you ever miss life in The Crazy Gang? I mean, when's the last time you've been back to London?
As a matter of fact, I was in London last week! About The Crazy Gang, well, they've disbanded now.
I know they're now called the MK Dons. Ridiculous, isn't it?
Yea well they wanna be their own team, so The Crazy Gang has been put to bed.
We hear you have a team now the LA as well. Can you tell us a bit more about that?
Yea, we've got. I've got a team in LA which I've started up which is called Hollywood All-Stars. And erm, we're doing well.
The people in your team are they all celebrities? Are they your friends? How does it work? Is it for charity?
They're both… people from the industry, you know.
Which industry really? You're part of both.
Well, I took the acting up now (laughs) … so I do the football for fun.

Good man. So Vinnie do you go to the movies? Bring your family maybe? And what is the last movie that you've watched at the cinemas?
Well believe it or not, when I'm at a shooting set and it gets a bit boring, I do like going to the movies in the evenings. I don't remember the last movie that I watched, really… but I do know I have to bring the wife to go see "Sex And The City".
Last question then. Tell us something that we don't know about Vinnie Jones the man?
Erm... something..
Could be your favourite lager, your preferred brand of tuna - could be anything Vinnie.
I think my favourite animal is a tiger. I don't think many people know that.
Right, nice one Vinnie. Okay, hang on, I'll pass you to the next reporter. Vinnie, it's been a pleasure!

Nampaknya ada dua citer horror bertemakan keretapi yg keluar sekali kali ni.....nanti nak maraton keduanya bek 2 bek lah.....lepas keretapi daging kita tengok kereta hantu mengarai lak.....atau maybe patut dengan ketapi menggarai tu dulu pasal aku x expect citer Indo ni best sangat pun then disudahkan dgn filem adaptasi karya Clive Baker yg terkenal tu..... |
