Between 1957 and 1962, this former British colony in the equatorial Pacific played involuntary host to 30 nuclear explosions conducted by the British and U.S. militaries.

The test ranged from a 3,000-kiloton explosion 8,200 feet in the air and far out to sea, to a 24-kiloton "balloon-suspended air burst over land." (For comparison, the bomb dropped at Hiroshima had about a 15-kiloton yield.)

During these tests islanders were not evacuated. Subsequently British servicemen as well as local islanders have claimed to have suffered from exposure to the radiation from these blasts.

The island's population has strongly increased in recent years, from about 2,000 in 1989 to about 5,000 in the early 2000s.

kawan aku nyer abg dah lama bermastautin kat pulau ni, xdok la dengar citer pasal ujikaji nuke ni...betui ke ni? kalau nak kata zaman dulu2, mak ayah dia mmg dok situ, pun xder lak dia cerita...

adakah pulau yg dimaksudkan tu sama dgn yg ko maksudkan ni........

paling kurang pun org letupkan bom atom > 5000 kilo tan........
maunya gegar tanah dlm lingkungan 10 km - 20 km

takkan le takde dgr apa2.

abg kwn ko stay kat christmas island australia yg dekat indonesia tu...... bukan christmas island yg nih.....
