Johor ruler to honour 352

JOHOR BARU: Two members of the Johor royalty are among three recipients of the Darjah Kerabat Johor Yang Amat Dihormati Pangkat Pertama (DK I) title in conjunction with the Sultan of Johor's birthday today.
They are his grandson, the Raja Muda of Johor Tunku Ismail Tunku Ibrahim and eldest daughter, the Tunku Puteri of Johor Tunku Kamariah Sultan Iskandar.
The third recipient is Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman.
Sultan Iskandar Sultan Ismail will confer the honours at an investiture ceremony at Istana Besar here.
This year, two specialists from Sultanah Aminah Hospital here will be awarded the datukship.
Anaesthesiologist Datuk Dr Subrahmanyam Balan is the sole recipient of the Darjah Mahkota Johor Yang Amat Mulia Pangkat Pertama Datuk Seri Paduka Mahkota Johor (SPMJ), which carries the title "Datuk".
Urologist Dr Yoong How Fee is the sole recipient of the Darjah Mahkota Johor Yang Amat Mulia Pangkat Kedua Datuk Paduka Mahkota Johor (DPMJ), which also carries the title "Datuk".
A total of 352 awards and medals were announced in conjunction with the ruler's 77th birthday.
Among them are state secretary Datuk Abdul Latif Yusof and state Education Department director Sufa'at Tumin who are among 16 recipients of the Pingat Kerana Lama Dan Baik Dalam Pekerjaan (PLP).
Other recipients of the medal are Ismail Ibrahim of the state secretary's office, Ibrahim Khalid of the Royal Department of Johor and Asmail A. Kadir of the Tangkak Land and District Office.
Two members of the Johor Military Force (JMF) -- Company Sgt-Maj Moharam Hamad and Corporal Abdul Razak Ali -- will receive the Pingat Kerana Jasa Dan Lama Dalam Pekerjaan (PJP).
Another 14 JMF members are being honoured with the Pingat Ibrahim Sultan Pangkat Kedua (PIS II). There are a total of 268 recipients for the PIS II medal.
Another 61 people will receive the Pingat Ibrahim Sultan Pangkat Ketiga (PIS III).
Among them are Zainal Abu Bakar of the Muar Municipal Council, Vatoomalay Rathenam of the Kluang Municipal Council and Masdar Paijo of the Pontian District Office.
