God is not Great By Christopher Hitchens

The book is written for the atheist who seeks rebuttals forthe world of religions. As a Muslim I forgive him for writing such book.. Some issues related to Islam are fundamentally flawed inargument, but can be enjoyable to read. Christopher Hitchens, however, is anexceptionally witty writer, who often finds clever ways to express himself. Hiswriting is conversational, flowing, but sometimes elitist, arrogant, andpretentious. His humor is evident throughout the book, but it is consistentlydivisive and adversarial. |

Yes, indeed the title itself is scary if you have a weak heart...unless you have a sound knowledge of your religion. I somewhat curious and bought the book. Christopher is a very knowledgeable and well traveled man. His comments about God includes the religion of the Jews, Christian and Islam sound trivial but make one ponder if it makes sense. His attacked on Christianity can be quite furious and cruel...man made religion and so fort. Christianity , over the years of dynamic evolution, has made many mistakes in the history of mankind. The mass slaughtering of the heathen by the crusaders, the force extermination of the Latin American Indian natives in the name of salvation and the evil and corrupt practices of the early Church. His comment on Islamic religion is purely a curiosity. I don't blame him as long as he stays beyond the line of bigotry. |

You don't have to have a strong religious background to read this book..
Reading a single atheist book doesn't mean you demolish your akidah. My take is, if someone raise an issue which conflict to my believe it further strengthen my yearning to find the truth. Atheist are gadfly who has no universal doctrine so to speak...they are just like the sophist in the time of immemorial. |

Reading this
book is in no way an endorsement of the contentsof the book. Reading is a quest for knowledge. There should be nothing wrongwith wanting to learn why other people think differently than you, or differentlythan the group in which you find yourself. You don’t have to already agree witheverything you read – in fact it would be boring if you did.
