Didn't look all that convincing even though he kept a clean sheet. Took a couple of fumbles before getting totally into the game, which is deadly against other better sides.
Ritchie De Laet: 6
The Belgian is adequate in this time of shortage in the Red Devil's backline. Don't expect him to be in the line-up if everyone is fit, especially after another pedestrian performance.
Michael Carrick: 8
Proving to be a good choice to be United's fifth choice centre-back should they have another injury crisis. Was calm on possession and distributed the ball well. Carrick even managed to get some tackles in during the game.
Nemanja Vidic (off 60'): 9
Unleashed the beast:pompom: within as he galloped forward to head a corner that Marcus Hahnemann failed to keep out. The Serbian defender also did his damage at the back, erasing the likes Stefan Maierhofer and Andrew Surman.
Patrice Evra: 7
Overlapped well and put in a few tantalising crosses. Tracked back and did his part on the defensive end too.
Antonio Valencia: 7
Ran his heart out in the game and ran instinctively to Berbatov's pass to ram the ball past a shell-shocked Hahnemann.
Paul Scholes: 6
Controlled the flow in the middle of the park adequately, but did not do anything spectacular as we have become accustomed to.
Darron Gibson: 6
The Irishman left his rocket boots at home as he failed to test Hahnemann adequately from distance.
Gabriel Obertan (off 70'): 7
Lots of flair and stepovers. Almost scored but his shot was well-saved as Hahnemann got down well to smother the ball.
Dimitar Berbatov: 7
Provided his usual array of flicks and trick passes, and did well to lob the ball into the path of Valencia to score the Red Devil's third.
Wayne Rooney (off 76'): 6
Missed a ton of chances in this game and should have had a hat-trick at halftime if not for his poor finishing. Scored the penalty but that's what he paid to do with his eyes closed.
Subs:
Michael Owen (on 76'): 6
Came on and found space consistently in Wolves' penalty box, but the telling pass never came. Headed a high cross into orbit.
Danny Welbeck (on 70'): 6
Provided pace on the wings and had a couple of shots saved by Hahnamann.
Darren Fletcher (on 60'): 6
Replaced Vidic and did an adequate job as an emergency centre-back. Was out-muscled by Iwelumo at times.
Wolverhampton:
Marcus Hahnemann: 7
Did well to keep Wolves in the game in the first half, but failed to keep out Vidic's bullet header which rolled into goal from his palms. The American could not react in time to make an attempt at a save against Valencia.
Ronald Zubar: 4
Conceded the penalty that resulted in United's opener as he flapped his hands out while attempting to clear the ball.
Michael Mancienne: 6
Did an adequate job on defence and did manage to make a few clearances.
George Elokobi: 5
Tried his best to keep the Red Devils out of Wolves' penalty area but lost sight of Vidic for United's second.
Matt Hill: 6
Kept thing going in midfield, but the Wanderers opted to bypass the middle of the park most of the time.
Greg Halford (off 76'): 6
Similar to Hill, and had a hand in containing Scholes and Gibson well.
Kevin Foley: 6
Did well considering Wolves decided to play a more defensive 4-5-1 position, as United failed to score from open play.
Segundo Castillo: 6
Didn't have much of an impact on the game.
George Friend (off 61'): 6
Wasn't a Friend of United and did well to get into scoring positions for Wolves. If only he could finish those chances...
Andrew Surman: 5
A forgettable performance against one of the best sides in the world.
Stefan Maierhofer (off 54'): 5
Did he even play? Did not have a single contribution in the game, save for being substituted early in the second half.
Subs:
David Jones (on 76'): 6
Added some bite into the Wanderers' midfield but came on just for damage limitation.
Matthew Jarvis (on 61'): 6
Provided an outlet on the wings, but his insertion was too little, too late.
Chris Iwelumo (on 54'): 6
Showed some strength as he physically bullied Carrick and Fletcher, but did little else.
