Incorrect usage - The last bus leaves at eleven o'clock. It's about eleven now, Hurry up!

Incorrect usage - I did not worked yesterday.

Correct usage - I did not work yesterday.

Incorrect usage - Did I worked yesterday?

Simple Past tense usage

Simple past tense ialah Kala kata kerja Masa Lepas yang anda perlu gunakan untuk Perbuatan yang telah berlaku di masa lepas dengan penunjuk masa lepas seperti yesterday, last week, in 2001 dan lain2..

Format Simple Past tense

1. Type of sentence - Statement

Subject + Verb in Past Tense
e.g. I studied at the library yesterday.

2. Type of sentence - Negative

Subject + did not  + Verb in base form (infinitive)

e.g. I did not study at the library yesterday.

3. Type of sentence - Question

Did  + Subject + Verb in base form (infinitive)

e.g. Did I study at the library yesterday?

Penggunaan 'Had' yang salah

Incorrect usage - I had worked yesterday.

Correct usage - I worked yesterday.

Untuk satu sahaja perbuatan di masa lepas anda cuma perlu gunakan Kala Simple Past sahaja tanpa penggunaan Had sebelum Verb tersebut.

Penggunaan Plural Nouns

Incorrect usage - I have 3 childs.

Correct usage - I have 3 children.

Incorrect usage - Two thiefs were caught by the police yesterday.

Correct usage - Two thieves were caught by the police yesterday.

Incorrect usage - I bought a pair of jean yesterday.

Correct usage - I bought a pair of jeans yesterday.

Plural nouns merujuk kepada Nouns yang jumlahnya lebih dari satu. Walaupun kebanyakan Nouns bentuk Pluralnya melibatkan penambahan -s dihujungnya tetapi masih ada banyak lagi bentuk Plural nouns yang anda perlu tahu seperti:-

1. Penambahan -es - e.g. One bus - two buses

2. Penambahan -ies - e.g. A baby - a few babies

3. Penambahan -ves - e.g. One wife - 4 wives

4. Pertukaran bentuk - one person - many people

5. Tiada pertukaran - One sheep - several sheep

6. Menggunakan plural bahasa asing - One cactus - two cacti (atau cactuses)

7. Sentiasa dalam bentuk plural - spectacles, jeans

8. Asalnya Plural tetapi sekarang ini digunakan juga untuk singular - One headquarters - Two headquarters

Penggunaan Singular/Plural Nouns dengan Verb

Incorrect usage - The child are sick today.

Correct usage - The child is sick today.

'Child' ialah singular noun yang digunakan dengan seorang 'budak' atau 'bayi' dan oleh itu Verb yang digunakan juga mestilah Singular Verb samaada 'is' atau 'was'.

Oleh kerana ianya merujuk kepada 'masa sekarang' iaitu today maka Verb dalam bentuk Present Tense 'is' perlu digunakan.

REMEMBER!!! SINGULAR NOUN + SINGULAR VERB

cikgutuition.. minta tolong explain lagi pasal penggunaan "had" sebelum verb ini. kadang2 bole jadi confusing juga.. bila lagi masa yg sesuai untuk pakai had + verb? thanks...

haku pun tak reti explain cara yg betul, ikut sedap mulut jer ni..

tp kalau singular noun n pronoun ni verb dia ada "s"
benda2 yg plural verb dia takder "s"

it - pronoun, singular, so "it makes". tp jgn plak you atau I diletak "s"... you dgn I ni 2nd person and 1st person.. kita treat verb agreement dia mcm plural.. no "s".
