At MD AUTO Malaysia, we’ve been seeing the same issue happening more and more often — especially with Toyota Estima, Alphard, and Vellfire.
Many drivers come in thinking their brake pads are worn, but the real problem turns out to be:
- Old brake fluid that hasn’t been changed for years
- This causes the ABS pump to get clogged, and the brake pressure never reaches the calipers properly.
In one recent Estima case, the pedal felt soft, ABS light came on randomly, and the car took too long to stop — even though the pads were fine.
What we recommend at MD AUTO:
Replace brake fluid every 2 years or 40,000km
Flush the entire brake system (don’t just top up)
Especially important for MPVs with recond history
We’re sharing this based on what we regularly diagnose in our Toyota/Lexus specialist workshop.
Hope this helps fellow MPV owners stay safe and informed on the road.
