Ikan bakar, or grilled fish, is one of those quintessentially Malaysian dishes that isn’t often talked about. Today, let’s look at three different places in Klang Valley that’s worth a visit if you have a stomach for this classic dish in the afternoon. Do remember to order a big glass of ice cold drink, because it’s going to get hot.
Mat Teh Ikan Bakar
One of my favourite ikan bakar places is this little stall by the name of Mat Teh Ikan Bakar at the Dato’ Keramat wet market, right across from the LRT station by the same name.
The stall gets pretty busy over lunchtime, and with somewhat limited seats, it is imperative to get there early.
The most popular fishes here are ikan pari (stingray) and ikan kembung. The stingray runs from RM14-16 per piece, but is big enough for sharing. What I also particularly love about this place is the good selection of ulam (raw vegetables) to go with the grilled fish. Here’s a personal tip - order their mango juice.
Ikan Bakar Warong Fauziah
Within walking distance of iconic KLCC, there’s a little hidden warong that many visitors or even tenants of this great building do not realise exists. Warong Fauziah is tucked behind Lembaga Getah and offers tasty authentic grilled fish alongside a good variety of other dishes to go with steamed rice.
t's not easy to locate Kak Fauziah's ikan bakar, but you'll be glad you did!

mmg sis, akak pun pernah terkena yg hauk bila pergi.
khenn..kdg2 tercengang ahkak tgk. dh la pjg berbaris..bila mkn x sdp..akak tgk org mkn bkn main selera lg...pelik sungguh..sambil dlm ati berckp2.. apala derang ni mcm gini pon dikatakn sedap..berduyun org dtg.. (bkn jeles tau)hu hu |

akak pernah try sekali, biasa sangat. adik2 haus di aidilfitri ini jah yg hadap ikan2 bakar choii ini. hauk sangat citarasa.
ikan bakar di tok bali lagi sedap bagi kakak.

bab beratur tgh hari panas mcm sakai ini akak trauma sangat pernah gigih cari kedai nasi ayam dan cucur udang di semenyih yg sangat pop katanya.
akak sampai gigih la beratur mcm sakai tgh hari yg panas ini, dlm hati akak mmg kompom la sedap kan? ramai gigih beratur ini.
gigih la kakak beli nasi ayam dan cucur udang sekali.
haus sangat bila balik makan dua2 pun tak sedap sis.
tahap mmg tak sedap, not even so so.
mesti orang semenyih taste hauk sangat kalau gitu dah menggelupor beratur tgh panas sbb sedap katanya
