The local police station confirmed that the fight had indeed erupted over land disputes, and said that around 100 people were involved. The two parties were identified as villagers of a shopping village owned by a man surnamed Liu, and the village official and his family.
A video filmed by witnesses at the scene show dozens of villagers
armed with sticks and other weaponsduking it out. Some of them even threw bricks at each other, causing serious injuries.
An ambulance was parked right next to the construction area and transported a few villagers with severe head injuries to the hospital.
Villagers at the scene told reporters that the fight was initiated by the expropriators, who led over 100 people on an attack against the villagers.
According to reports, the local police have detained six attackers and villagers, and have taken statements from villagers. The police also helped pay for the injured villagers' medical fees in advance. Further investigation on the incident is underway.
