During the 2022 season, Gurriel was sluggish in 146 games with 132 hits, eight homers, 53 RBIs, 53 runs scored, and a batting average of 0.242 OPS of 0.648. However, he showed his revival in 12 games with 17 hits, two homers, four RBIs, four runs scored, and a batting average of 0.347 OPS of 0.850, and wore the ring for the second time in his career.

Gurriel, who came to the free agent FA market after the 2022 season, took on a new challenge by signing a minor contract with the Miami Marlins, with 73 hits, four homers, 27 RBIs, 32 runs scored, and a batting average of 0.245 OPS 0.663 in 108 games.
