Local singing sensation Maria to launch debut album

Maria and her backing band, Destine
Local singing sensation Maria who has hypnotised fans with her high pitch voice will be launching her first album Maria and Destine sometimes in the middle of the month.
The album is expected to be launched at the Atrium Concourse, The Mall, Gadong.
Priced at $10, purchase of the CDs at the launching will receive freebies.
A finalist of Suara Bintang Keputeraan 2004, Maria has become a household name after appearing in the opening act of Akademi Fantasia 2 concert in Labuan last February.
The album contains 7 songs all composed by Nan. In the album she is backed by Destine, a local group led by Nan himself.
Some three songs from the album are expected to be hits on the chart - Angan (Dream), Bisik Hati (Heart Whisper) and Terserah (Up to You).
The unplugged album is locally recorded and produced. The song, Angan, can be heard many times on Radio Kristal. According to the album producer, Angan is currently a hit in the local music chart.
Maria, an artiste of SoundBox Event, will also perform at a function entitled "Dinner Show with Kaer AF2" on April 30 at 8 pm at the Royal Berkshire Hall, JPCC Polo Club, Jerudong together with another finalist of SBK 2004, Zaen.
Maria came into fame after entering the finals of Suara Bintang Keputeraan (SBK) 2004 held at the JPCC Amphitheatre, Jerudong.
Maria, 16, is still a Form 3 girl at STPRI in the capital.
In Labuan, she performed the number Angan to a wild crowd that filled up the Conference Hall of the Ujana Financial Centre.
Even though she aspires to be a professional singer, Maria said she would not do that at the expense of her studies.
"My studies are very important. It is just a matter of dividing time," she said.

Just to add, he is also a very successful lawyer/barrister (ex judge if I remember correctly) . This guy is as talented as they come. He produces, composes and is a terrific singer.
