BERG'S PARENTS WANT ANSWERS
WEST CHESTER (Pennsylvania) - As the world came to grips with the shocking execution of American Nick Berg by Islamic militants in Iraq, his grieving parents hit out at the US government for not helping to save their son.

The family of 26-year-old Mr Berg believes he would have been alive if Iraqi police had not held his son for nearly two weeks without charge and US officials had given them more information about his detention.

Their congressman, Republican Representative Jim Gerlach, said that Mr Berg's parents had been frustrated by lack of information from the US government when their son was detained by Iraqi police from around March 24 until his release on April 6.

"Had he not been detained for so long it's quite possible he would have made it back to the United States," Mr Gerlach said.

He added that Mr Berg had missed a flight home because he was behind bars. He said he would be seeking further information from the US government as to why it had not provided information.

On Tuesday, a videotape posted on an Islamic militant Web site showed Al-Qaeda's leader in Iraq beheading a man who said he was Nick Berg. The videotape carried statements vowing more killings in revenge for the abuse of Iraqi prisoners in a Baghdad prison by US soldiers.

The execution marked the end of a long and convoluted odyssey for Mr Berg, a committed supporter of President George W Bush's war in Iraq.

Mr Berg, the owner of a communications firm, had twice travelled to Iraq in search of work only to be arrested by US-backed Iraqi police.

On April 5, the Bergs filed a lawsuit that said their son was being held illegally by the US military in Iraq.
The next day, he was released. It is unclear how he fell in to the hands of the militants.

His body was found near a highway overpass in Baghdad on Saturday but the US military did not disclose the discovery until Monday. - Agencies

Stupid remarks from the family of the victim ... it was the Victim's choice to go to Afghan to help some ungrateful creatures there, NOT Bush's.

And it is the choice of those animals' who beheaded him to chop his head, NOT Bush's.

I don't see why Bush to be blamed for this.

nick Berg would have been alive by now! it started with the soldiers' stupid action and it's  so sad to hear Nick Berg became a victim.

I found several strange things happened in this case (Berg beheading)

1. Berg was detained by US offcial for 13days for the reason he didn't know, and wasn't allowed to make phone calls or contact lawyer, and days after that he was found beheaded!. His parents complaint, and asked US why he wasn't escorted out of Iraq after released?

2. It was said that al-Zarqawi ordered the killing of Berg or he might did it himself, but MSNBC reported that al-Zarqawi's dead months ago, before the Berg incident happened!

3. There is a time stamp about an 11-hour lapse between when the assailants finish their statement and push Berg down, to when they behead him. That suggests a delay between those two portions of tape posted on the Web site.
And if we see plainly the vidoe footage it looks like they behead Berg shortly after finish the statement. But why there exist 11-hour lapse when they want to show the world that they behead him instantly after reading the statement, what happened during that 11 hours?


4. Newspaper articles claim al-Zarqawi was behind the incident but all the men were wearing hoods and if someone is going to take credit for something, why not show your face? it does seem odd to wear a hood, then state your name, the reason for the hood becomes obvious....


5.  I am quite sure that the iraqis have known about the abuse in prisons about as long as the Red Cross. So if there was going to be a 'revenge' of some sort it would have happened a long time ago and by Iraqis, not members of an Afghan resistance group (Al-Qaeda)... correcto?


6. Berg was detained by US officials, then how suddenly and very quickly fall into the hands of al-Zarqawi (Al Qaeda)?


7. Many Arabs especially Iraqis said that the arabic accent of the tapes of those hooded murdereres of the onlight on Mr berg were of Iraqi accent, and Zarqawi is Jordanian..


8.  Notice the orange jumpsuit Mr. Berg used? Have you ever seen American prisoners of Iraqi captors in orange jumpsuits? I never have.
But one of the pictures of the Iraqi prisoners (in Abu Grhaib prison) shows an orange jumpsuit on the floor next to the naked bodies.... hmmmm


9. Does anyone think real Iraqi insurgents would do the one thing that would help Bush get out of the mess for the torture scandal? The very smartest thing the Iraqis could do was nothing and let the world stomp all over Bush for them

Please notice... the murderer was'nt Iraqis, but claimed to be Al-Qaeda (al-Zarqawi) who wear hood covering his face but read statement and state his name... it is obvious why you state your name and cover your face...

You see, the truth is, Muslims are ashamed and do not want to take responsibility for what they did. So they try ways and means to worm themselves out of this and that. And this makes them look even worst. Why not just apologise like Bush did?

The choice to stay was Berg's own. His parents simply cannot take his death so sudden and blame it on the government for not saving him. Just like a person will blame a doctor if he couldn't able to save the man's loved one.

And unlike the pervious kidnapping of Japanese people in Iraq, the kidnapping of Berg wasn't publiced except for the murder, so there is no way for the US to go in and save him.

Please notice... the murderer was'nt Iraqis, but claimed to be Al-Qaeda (al-Zarqawi) who wear hood covering his face but read statement and state his name... it is obvious why you state your name and cover your face...

I know where you getting at ... you saying that the reason someone could say the name and then cover the face is because he want to put the blame on someone else.

There is an easier answer for that ... ALL executioners wear hoods except for the person who is killed. Why change that now? Even in Islamic countries, the executioners wears hood.

And Al Queda did claim of using issues in Palestine, Afghan and now Iraq as an excuse for their act of terror. The bomb blasts don't seems to work, and it is getting harder to plant one. Obviously hijacking a plane is hard also now that everyone is cautious about it. What else to do? Personel attacks on civilians.
