Since 1960 England has won many more European cups/champions leagues than Spain and will probably continue to do so, but individually Real Madrid may stay out ahead. So England loses a few top players to Real but overall more top players move from Spain to England than vice versa. The English league becomes more dominant on the field and in the transfer market each year. The English champions' league juggernaut is gaining momentum and Real will eventually lose prestige if they can't compete, but it takes a lot of years before people forget the legacy of the Di Stefano and galactico eras.
It's several things.
It is as big as any other club in the world.
Climate wise it is superior to anything in England.
It is a top league.
I think that unless you are English, Madrid and even Barcelona are going to be able to leverage star players away from clubs that are equally as big or even bigger just because the climate is superior.
Rainy all the time or sunny all the time? It's not really a tough decision if there isn't some previously established long time loyalty there.

They have 9 European Cups, have had some of the worlds best players play for them, have won 31 La Ligas, the climate, the fans, the league. A whole host of reasons. Add to that they can splash the cash a bit.
Real Madrid is basically as high as it gets, once you move there it means that you've reached the very peak of your career and no progress to it can be made. It means that you've established yourself among world's best players for good. It's probably what makes them attractive, once you get there it's like being picked to the World's Best XI of all-time, even though very few of their players are actually that.
That's the kind of image they created in people's minds long time ago, they retained it with signings of Galacticos at the beginning of this century.
They've won as many European Cups as Barcelona and AC Milan put together, and as many League titles and Domestic Cups as Liverpool and Arsenal put together.
The much maligned Galacticos era has inadvertently worked in their favour in the regard that now players, and people alike, see Real as the final destination for careers. It's the team for superstars, where the best of the best come together to make the ultimate dream team.
It just carries this great aura that surpasses that of the other great clubs of the world.
And then there's the fact they're the most successful club ever
The attraction of Madrid is that they are known for being the biggest club in the world (although I don't necessarily agree..) It's a well known fact given their club history..after all, they have won the CL 9 times. People go on about how they are not even the best team currently but that is irrelevant to most players because they just want to play for Real Madrid. Then theres the idea of playing in Spain, and particularly in Ronaldo's case, he wants to experience both the technical side of the league and the lifestyle. It's a dream for most players outside the UK whether we like it or not, unfortunately.
I think you have to look at with some perspective....
1. Many young European kids grow up in a warm climate and so are used the environment that brings. The food, al fresco dining, the slower pace of life, very family oriented.
2. The language is Latin based and so relatively easy to pick up as opposed to English which is relatively more difficult
3. The football is of the highest quality with great players around you
4. South American talent has traditionally since the 1950's gone to Italy and Spain
5. Real Madrid have a great track record
6. Many people in life like to experience different cultures....I moved to Paris with work for two years to do just that....the likes of Wilkins, Platt, Keegan, Lineker amongst others wanted the same experience.

I highly doubt Real would have won the European Cup 5 times in a row had it not been for the Munich disaster.
and sorang lg forumer jwb...
We'll never know.
They had won two before Munich. We might still have been too young in 1958. 59 - who knows.
1960. That would have been a hell of a game. Real were at the peak of their powers. They had Di Stefano, Pukas, Del Sol and Gento. |

yes indeed...for those who are at the peak.. say around 28-29 age...
for younger player.. once you have played with the best player, with the best pay ever, the chances of getting to other establish club will be narrow... not all club will efford to pay that much... end up like owen etc...
but is u at peak 28-29 .. madras is the perfect choice... |
