AMD has launch PUMA, its latest mobile platform. Embedding its latest chipset and ATI graphics together with 802.11n WLAN, AMD is taking the fight right up to Intel's new Centrino 2.
At the heart of PUMA, lies the AMD 780G chipset which can deliver DirectX 10 graphics acceleration, full high definition H.264 decoding with both HDMI and Display Port outputs and 5GHz PCI Express ports. This combined with the new AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile CPU and the ATI Radeon HD 3000 Series embedded graphics, givs it a huge leap in 3D performance and HD playback image quality. Combined with a discreet ATI graphics, not only can it support up to 4 monitors, users will also benefit from ATI CrossFireX Technology which according to AMD boast 3D graphic performance up to 70%.
AMD is also claiming 70% increase in battery life with AMD Enhanced PowerNow! and ATI PowerXpress techology which shuts off core logic parts of the CPU when not in use and automatically switches from discreet graphics to integrated graphics when on battery power.
Notebooks utilizing AMD's PUMA are now available from OEM manufactures such as HP, Compaq and Acer.

Intel Introduces Atom processor for Netbook and Nettops
by Terence
Thursday, 24 July 2008 12:15 AM
Intel Malaysia yesterday officially introduced the Intel Atom processor, previously known as Diamondville. This 45nm single core 64 bit processor is designed for optimum power saving and in the smallest package possible but includes some of Intel's latest technology such as SSE3 and hyperthreading.
The Atom was designed specifically for a new category of simple and affordable devices for the Internet. These new devices are called netbooks and nettops which according to Intel offer end users an easy-to-use device with simple interfaces and performance for a good online experience. In a nutshell, the netbooks and nettops are basically designed for Internet content consumption, that's it.
A typical Intel Atom netbook includes the N270 Atom processor at 1.6GHz together with the Mobile Intel 945GSE Express chipset, a 7"-10" screen, 802.11b/g WLAN, a mini keyboard, 400MHz or 566MHz memory, 256-512Mb of RAM, 2-4GB of flash based storage and a lightweight Operating System such as Linux or MS XP Home. Estimated starting price for netbooks are around USD250 or RM900 and above.
With more than 10 PC manufacturers and OEM launching Atom based netbooks at the time of launched, you can now actually get an Intel Atom powered device yourself. Most recent launched are the Acer Aspire One (which is currently being used to type this news out), MSI WindPC and the Asus EeePC 901. All are priced within the affordable range of RM1300-RM1600 depending on the configuration.
Read on for full specifications on the Atom architecture.

tu la pasal. cam melampau je.
aku test aspire one kat showroom ari tu pun leh tahan je laju dia.
cache dia tkde la macm celeron, respon dia not bad.
cuma kekurangan aspire one yg aku test ari tu ialah storage dia guna flash memory, 4GB saja. mungkin sbb dh penuh kot, jadi lagging sikit masa try tu. OS XP starter.
Linpus punya ok la, simple menu. click-launch = rasa macam smua program tu standalone je.
tapi teringin la nak test PUMA plak... bila agak2 leptop yg guna PUMA ni nk sampai ek... |

tapi kalau fikir secara logik pun, install office kat pentium 3 takkan sampai 30minit? full install kat pentium 733 pun x sampai 10 minit... |

betul..
tapi speed jugak bergantung pada storage..
kalo guna hard disk memang laju..tapi kalo gune flash memory..
aku rasa..
office tu die letak dalam thumbdrive..pastu dari thumbdrive die terus install masuk ke flash memory dalam ultra mobile pc tu..

kalau aspire one & asus ee pc pakai SSD takkan slow? SSD mana guna flash, SSD guna DRAM atau SRAM ler
With no moving parts,solid-state drives are inherently less fragile than harddisks andtherefore also silent (unless a cooling fan is used); as there are nomechanical delays, they usually enjoy low access time and latency.

dlm kes tu, bukan sebab processor, tapi read speed USB drive tu yang punca utama sebab ape installation office slow.
* nanti aku nak reformat aspire one member aku, install windows, then aku test, baper minit installation dari compact disc..
