Superleague Formula is a new motor racing formula, which will start its first race on August 30, 2008, on Donington Park. The league will introduce team sponsorship by major sports clubs, and will feature open-wheel racing around a mix of historic and challenging tracks. Known as "The Beautiful Race - Football at 300km/h" it will feature in its first season 20 cars with global football club liveries and recognised drivers at the wheel for a supposedly close, exciting mix of two sports.

To get the ball rolling, the first clubs to pledge their commitment to participate in Superleague Formula were AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven, FC Porto and Olympiacos in April 2007. They were followed by Borussia Dortmund, RSC Anderlecht and Flamengo who proudly joined the field in July 2007, and then FC Basel and Galatasaray SK.
In 2008, Sevilla FC, Corinthians, Rangers and, most recently, Al Ain, Beijing Gouan FC, AS Roma, Tottenham Hotspurs and Liverpool FC have also signed up to take part. Over the next few months, we will reveal the remaining six clubs who will be taking part in the beautiful race |

Liverpool's red machine unveiled for Superleague Formula

Liverpool FC's Superleague Formula car has been officially unveiled at the club's Melwood training ground.
Coach Rafael Benitez and the Liverpool squad revealed the red 750 horsepower, V12 powered machine for the local media with a crowd of Liverpool fans trying to sneak a look from outside the Melwood gates.
Leading international stars including Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres, Jamie Carragher and new signing Robbie Keane were on site to admire the newest member of their 搕eam |
