Getafe completes signing of Sporting's Stojkovic
Getafe, Spain (Sports Network) - Getafe has completed the signing of Serbia goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic from Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon.
The 25-year-old joins initially on loan until the end of the season, with a view to a permanent deal if he impresses in Madrid.
"Now my task is to convince everyone that I should stay," he told Marca. "I want to play in order to stay and I hope to have the chance and to prove that I am a good goalkeeper.
"It is the best league in Europe. I know about all the teams and could talk for hours about Spanish football. It is a league that everyone watches and I have seen it a lot on television."
Stojkovic made his name with Crvena Zvezda before spells in France and the Netherlands with Nantes and Vitesse Arnhem respectively.
He joined Sporting in the summer of 2007 and came close to joining Everton a year later. |
