Jose: Rooney should be banned

Inter boss Jose Mourinho believes Nemanja Vidic-less Manchester United should also be without Wayne Rooney for Tuesday's Champions League clash at the San Siro.
Citing a challenge made by Rooney in United's last Champions League group stage game against Aalborg, Mourinho believes Rooney should be serving a suspension when United arrive at the Giuseppe Meazza for the first leg of the last 16 tie.
Insistent that he would not become involved in mind games ahead of the Anglo-Italian cup clash, Mourinho nevertheless accused Uefa of double standards with regard to United and his former club Chelsea.
Mourinho told the Sunday Telegraph: "Back in 2005, Uefa used TV evidence to suspend Michael Essien for a challenge he had made in the Champions League against Liverpool.
"Against Aalborg, Rooney made a challenge that deserved punishment. But nothing happens.
"What is the difference between Michael Essien from Chelsea and Wayne Rooney from Manchester United? I don't think there is a difference."
Mourinho is just as adamant that United got off lightly with the suspension of Vidic, with the Portuguese claiming that the Serb should be serving at least a two-match ban for his sending off against Liga de Quito in the Fifa Club World Cup.
Vidic will miss Tuesday's first leg but should be absent for the return game at Old Trafford too, according to Mourinho.
