Kemelut pasangan popular Denmark
Oleh Shamsiah Sanin
PUTERA Frederik dan Mary dikecam kerana boros.
Hubungan Putera Mahkota Frederik, isteri didakwa retak oleh penulis buku The King and Queen of Greenland
Buku ‘The King and Queen of Greenland’ tulisan bekas wartawan diraja, Trine Villemann mendakwa Mary sering tertekan berikutan sikap playboy Frederik yang gemar menghadiri parti di kelab malam.

The Crown Princess' Background
HRH Crown Princess Mary, 2003
Mary Elizabeth Donaldson was born on 5 February 1972 in Hobart, the main town on Tasmania, which is part of Australia. The island is 11⁄2 times larger than Denmark, but the population is considerably smaller (456,652 in 2001).
She grew up as the youngest of four siblings. Her father, John Dalgleish Donaldson, emigrated to the mountainous island from Scotland in 1963, a few months after his marriage to the Crown Princess' mother, Henrietta Clark. He works as a Professor of Applied Mathematics. Mary's mother, who died in 1997, was a senior secretary at the University of Tasmania.
After Mary had completed elementary and secondary education, she attended college 1983-86. In 1989, she started studying at the island's university, obtaining a BA in Economics and Law five years later. In the years 1994-96, she added an advertising and marketing diploma.
In 1996-2003, the Crown Princess had several advertising jobs, reaching the position of account handler. She soon orientated herself internationally, working first in Edinburgh in her father's native Scotland in 1999, then in Paris in 2002. When she moved to Copenhagen, she was employed by Microsoft Business Solutions with responsibility for company development, communication and marketing.

The Crown Prince's Early Years
HRH Crown Prince Frederik, 2003
Crown Prince Frederik was born on 26 May 1968. His only sibling, Prince Joachim, was born the following year. Despite their royal background, they were educated with other children at the private Krebs' School in Copenhagen 1974-81. The school's principal was Jørgen Stegelman, who is known as a marvellous storyteller.
At the request of their father, Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Joachim were in 1982 enrolled in the French elite school École des Roches in Normandy, where they gained an understanding of French culture and history. The Princes continued their schooling at Øregaard Upper Secondary School in Hellerup in Northern Copenhagen, where Frederik gained his baccalaureate in Modern Languages in summer 1986.
A month earlier, he had joined the Council of State, where the sovereign of the constitutional monarchy meets his or her minister about 15 times a year to sign the Acts of the country. As Crown Prince, Frederik can take over his mother's role as sovereign of Denmark, if she is abroad or otherwise unable to fulfil the function. |

Prince Frederik breaks leg in sleigh ride
March 11, 2009 - 10:40AM
Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik has undergone surgery after fracturing a leg during a family holiday in Switzerland.
Princess Mary's husband was injured while riding a sleigh with their children, three-year-old Christian and Isabella, who turns two next month.
"He must have his leg in a cast for six weeks," said Lene Balleby, the chief of communication for the Danish royal family.
"There is a fracture in his calf bone, an injury incurred by the Crown Prince while riding a sleigh with his children.
"He is expected to be released from hospital tomorrow."
The spokeswoman did not specify which leg had been broken.
The royal family's holiday in Switzerland was nearly two weeks ago, but apparently Frederik did not notice his injury at the time.
During the snowy getaway the young Prince Christian told Danish magazine Billed Bladet he enjoyed skiing.
Last week Frederik and his family jetted off to Miami, where the Crown Prince participated in an annual boating competition.
Frederik was checked into Rigs Hospital, the main hospital in the Danish capital of Copenhagen, after he returned to Denmark this week.
Tasmanian-born Princess Mary married Frederik in 2004.
In 2008 she was considered the most popular Danish royal and was voted Woman of the Year by a popular Danish women's magazine. |

Royal embrace puts marriage rift rumours aside
One of the official portaits of Prince Frederick and Princess Mary to mark their fifth wedding anniversary
May 14, 2009
A royal embrace between Crown Prince Frederik and Princess Mary of Denmark has helped dispel suggestions their marriage is in trouble.
The embrace is featured in one of six official photographs released to mark the couple's fifth wedding anniversary.
The pictures show the Danish royals embracing and smiling and include a family photo with their children, Christian, aged three, and Isabella, one.
Prince Frederik is shown in one photograph wearing his military uniform.
The photos contradict claims in a new book that their marriage is under pressure.
Author Trine Villemann, a former royal correspondent, wrote that Princess Mary was struggling to cope with her husband's "playboy" ways.
The book, The King and Queen of Greenland, also criticised the royal pair for their spending habits after an official report recently revealed the couple had gone more than $500,000 over their $4 million budget.
Princess Mary and Prince Frederik were married in 2004 after meeting during the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
The prince will visit Sydney again in October to compete in the World Masters Games where he will partner Sydney-based sailor Chris Meehan in the 35-plus Tasar Sailing Competition from October 13.
He will also attend the opening ceremony at ANZ Stadium on October 11.
NSW Premier Nathan Rees said on Monday it would be a pleasure to welcome the prince back to the city where he met his Tasmanian wife. |
