MELAKA: Melaka police arrested two male teachers from a secondary school here to assist in the investigation of an alleged physical sexual assault on a 16-year-old female student.
The two suspects, aged 46 and 35 years, were produced at the Magistrate's Court in Ayer Keroh here on Friday (July 19) to be remanded for five days over the alleged offences against the Form Four student.
Both the suspects are being probed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
If convicted under the Section, the two could face a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and whipping.
The first suspect had allegedly committed the offence in a room which was turned into a sick bay at the school here on Thursday (July 11).
Based on preliminary information, the student had claimed that the first suspect had reportedly hugged her when she returned to school after a clinic visit at noon on that day.
The suspect had allegedly locked the door of the sick bay and sat beside her before hugging her.
The victim lodged a police report on Thursday (July 18).
In the second case, the 35-year-old teacher had allegedly caressed the breast and thighs of the victim at an art classroom at the same school, sometime in March of this year.
The suspect had also allegedly kissed the victim on her neck and had conveyed his intention to marry her after the victim completes her SPM examination, next year.
The victim also lodged a police report against the second suspect on the same day.
Both the suspects were arrested when they turned up at the Melaka police headquarters in Bukit Beruang here to assist in investigations on Thursday (July 18).
