6-DOOR WOODEN LONGHOUSE AND 5 HOUSES ENGULFED IN MIDNIGHT FIRE - 91 MADE HOMELESS

30 Mac - SIMUNJAN : A 6-door wooden longhouse Rumah Panjang Kampung Sekendu in Simunjan was totally destroyed in a fire around 11.45 last night. The fire also destroyed 5 other detached wooden houses closeby.

The fire and rescue department received an emergency call at 11.45 pm last night and 8 firefighters from Simunjan fire and rescue station headed by PBKII Ahmad B. Soot arrived at the scene 7 minutes later.

Firefighters conducted relay pumping of water from a nearby drain to put out the fire.

The raging fire, however destroyed the longhouse as well as 5 detached houses closeby.

91 people from 15 families were made homeless.
