"Rain Dogs" Gets More International Recognition
By Lim Chang Moh
19 October - Local film-maker Ho Yuhang is definitely going places this year with his film "Rain Dogs"! Apart from being one of the selected Cinemart projects at the International Film Festival, the film was nominated as part of the Official Selection in the 63rd Venice International Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival and the Vancouver International Film Festival.
Ho receiving his award in Hong Kong
"Rain Dogs" also received the "New Talent Award" at the 3rd Hong Kong Asian Film Festival - an award given by the judge for films which show an original representation of movie themes. This is a great honour and a landmark event for Malaysian film-makers, putting Malaysia right on the movie-making map.
In a recent press release, Ho said: "It's very fortunate for me to receive such an honour. I wish to sincerely thank Focus Films' boss Mr Andy Lau for his kind support for "Rain Dogs"." The film is funded by Focus Films of Hong Kong.
More is definitely in store for the director as the film will be taking part in the upcoming 11th Pusan International Film Festival Competition and Tokyo International Film Festival in this month of October.

laislabonita, dah tengok ke? takde komen pun...?
aku tengok semalam. personally aku mmg suka filem ni, sbb aku mmg minat filem2 kecil cam ni. kisah bandar2 kecil, manusia2 biasa, dan lebih kepada paparan realiti hidup. senang cakap, Rain Dogs ni ialah jenis2 cerita yg tak gempak langsung, takde sesuatu yg sengaja ditonjol-tonjolkan utk menarik perhatian orang. tapi sebaliknya di sebalik ke'tidak-gempak'an filem ni, timbul satu bentuk kejujuran yg mmg aku cari-cari. kiranya filem ni memenuhi citarasa aku la, walaupun dari sinopsis awal yg aku baca, aku lebih membayangkan byk babak2 ganas dan tempo cerita yg lebih laju. tapi, hasilnya cerita ni sebenarnya agak slow dan tak seganas mana, walaupun ada banyak ditunjukkan 'sisi gelap' kehidupan di malaysia yg berada pada satu lapisan yg tak ramai kita pernah lalui, tapi lapisan kehidupan yg dipaparkan dlm Rain Dogs ni mmg wujud. aku akan tengok lagi kalau keluar vcd...
sebelum org tanya... aku kena tulis ni: 3 bintang.
highlight:
- poster cun! (versi lain, tak sama dgn kat atas ni) cuma org yg dah tengok filem ni akan tahu. lepas tengok filem ni, pergi tengok gambar kat poster tu, yg gambar lima org pelakon tu. sempoi!!
- Yasmin Ahmad berlakon sbg cina yg tak faham BM. yup, dia ada scene berkemban kain batik dlm bilik (so what kan? hehe..)
- lagu penutup best (tapi bukan original song la, tapi tetap masyuk.... kena dgn scene statik shot tu)
- nak promo filem kena ada benda ni: lawak. ada a few lawak yg sebenarnya tak lawak, tapi aku gelak je, contohnya scene cina kampung rambut panjang kena belasah dgn hero sebab kononnya dia ada gambar bogel sorang amoi yg hero tu suka. dan lain2 la... (takkan nak cerita kot)
- sex sells, nak promo bagi org tengok: Nor Khiriah berlakon jadi pompuan simpanan gangster, dia cakap cina. seksi gila siut, dgn skirt pendek dan baju tayang dada. mantaps!!:tq:
lowlight:

apa maksudnya ek?
citer ni banyak juga scene kelakar...
sama macam pengarahnya juga...
tapi ada mesej2 tersirat yang cuba disampaikan...
cumanya, kebanyakan filem indie memang suka sangat buat penggambaran kat perak...
kenapa ek?
