LUMUT: Police are investigating how a suspended weapons dealer continued to import state-of-the-art firearms into the country for more than a year via legal means.牋<br />

The weapons imported from Germany and Austria worth RM900,000 are believed to have been flown into the country and cleared by the Customs. Police want to know how the weapons managed to get past Customs' clearance.牋<br />

Police made the huge firearms seizure when they were carrying out a drug bust.牋<br />
<br />
The importer's firearms trading licence was suspended by Bukit Aman in 2005, for not declaring the sale and ownership of weapons.牋<br />
<br />
The 3am raid at a house in Taman Venice here last Friday, led to the discovery of 58 weapons comprising five 5.56mm light machine guns, one 5.56mm automatic rifle and 47 self-loading .9mm pistols. <br />
<br />
Most were stashed in boxes and bags in a room while five pistols were later seized at an office in Persiaran Lumut Pantai Impian here. <br />
<br />
Police also arrested a 29-year-old arms dealer at the house.牋<br />
<br />
揌e had a licence to trade in firearms in 2003 but we suspended it on Dec 31, 2005, for failing to submit the mandatory annual report on the sale and ownership of weapons to Bukit Aman,

Wonder how can such fluke happened.

If such incident does not kept in check.......if this weapons falls under the wrong hands...our security forces (especially the police) could find themselves outgunned by these peoples.

Navy men quizzed over arms hoarding
PANTAI REMIS: Several navy officers have been questioned in connection with the unlicensed firearms dealer who was caught hoarding 58 modern firearms at his home recently.  Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Hashim Harun said that the officers had their statements recorded by police last Friday to assist in investigations.  揥e are now waiting for further instructions from the Deputy Public Prosecutor抯 office on whether there is a need to question individuals from the Customs Department,
