Kids who listen to underground for the sake of being underground

I'm no expert at music, I'll tell you that. But I like a few bands that are quite unknown to the common Malay youth population in Malaysia. And because of my taste, I got to know a few kids who I thought had the same interests as me. I later found out that they liked a few bands because just because, well, they're underground. And they take pride in knowing bands that other people don't know. And they'll ask me "Hang tau dak band ni?" and I'll say "Dak," then they'll boastfully reply "Hang tak tau, aku tau!...". And some kids "dump" these bands after others know of these bands, because that makes the bands not "underground". Odd to me, but it seems that this disease is widespread. Shouldn't you like music because it's good, and not because of it's underground?

Agree with u.Thats very typical kind of thinking...sometimes they look like poser...whats the problem with the u.g band that had been known for their dedication in music.Those fan whose not welcoming the band that steps from the u.g to the more known scene is more worst because they didnt contribute something while barking like a dog like they're so good. gosh~

well i have to admit i used to be in that group.but i think that's just a process of growing up and becoming mature in choosing music and having a reason of why you choose to listen to them.

when linkin park first came out, we used to think they were so damn cool! in fact we went and played some of their songs (i think it was in year '00).and then when we found out that some of our female classmates listens to them too, we kinda ditch that band   and quickly try to move to other bands with more 'hardcore' or 'underground' as you mentioned.

it's just a matter of exposure.i dare you to listen to all music without hate.only then can you realise how music is much more than what is just around yourself :victory:

i'm outdated, but i know some bands whom gigs i went for a few times (only twice haha).they have skills.hell yea, they rock so hard that i went out of my nature self just to watch them perform..(thirdarmrecords' bands)
