J.R.R. TOLKIEN -- A GREAT AUTHOR --

i am sure forumers remember the best movie 2005 -  LORDS OF THE RING - RETURN OF THE KING-- directed by PETER JACKSON --  this movie is based on the book -- 3 parts  by one of my very very favourite author ever  JRR Tolkien -  or John Ronald Reuel Tolkien

ive read tolkien since many many years ago - starting LOTR - the fellowship of the ring --  and then
LOTR - the two towers  till the 3 part -- LOTR - Return of the King --

story about bilbo baggins - a hobitan  found the ring - and how he gave to his nephew froddo - and what
happened and the legend about it --

if forumers wanna start reading LOTR i wud suggest to start with THE HOBBIT --   story about bilbo baggins -
and his life  and the journey till he found the ring from gollum ---  those happened before the 3 parts of those
stories --

the language he used  is slightly  hard but not so difficult to understand - for Tolkien was very good in
his explanation about the feeling, ambivience - and the surrounding of the stories..

a great book  - and A MUST  for all those readers who love  literatuire, adventurous  and great stories...

ah  i see...
i memang suka baca cerita cerita middle earth...
and LOTR is my all time favourite  ( especially the hobbit)
buku dia still simpan - lama dah dari early teenager dulu..

but i understand lots of people just tak baca sangat
sebab font dia kecil - buku dia tebal  -- story  dia memang
widely range --  saya suka cam gitu...

ahh so u baca harry potter juga ye?  saya dah khatam dah
suka baca cerita dia --  yang latest --  order of the phoenix and
half blood prince --

saya still suka cerita dia yang pertama tu -- the philosopher's stone --
2 kali baca buku tu - sebab best...

lady nF suka genre camana?

I've read the whole LOTR books. Very thick....don't know how many times baca berulang2. I've read The Hobbit, The Silmarillion & the History of the Middle Earth too. Harry Potter pun minat jugak. Cuma buku C.S. Lewis, The Cronicle of Narnia aje yang tergantung.

tak suka sangat fantasi sebenarnya
harry potter tuh tak pernah berjaya abiskan pon
sebab tak larat dengan kefantasian dia

genre tuh pelbagai gak
selain bestseller, chic lit ngan thriller
saya banyak kumpul cerita pasal maharani cina (mcm anchee min punya buku)
sebab dari kecik mmg berangan nak jadi maharani china
pastuh banyak collect  biography plak

fantasy fiction tak banyak sangat dibaca
you are so not creative thinker...kata my friend bila i komplen tak larat abiskan HP

Should read The Silmarillion. It tells the history of the rings and how sauron cames to power. I think in order of preference, should read Silmarillion, The Hobbit then the trilogy of the LOTR. The history of middle east is just reference aje. C.S. Lewis pun I got all the seven books. My genre tak tentu...janji best, I baca....:lol

Hello all,
I'm  new here.  walaupun thread ni dah lama tak ada org reply, saya nak join gak. I agree with you Izzana :setuju: . Mg patut baca The Silmarillion dulu, then baru baca the Hobbits and the trilogy. Sometimes kalau baca straight LOTR you can get confused nd tak paham macam mana itu terjadi, ini muncul.

I LOVE:love:, LOVE:love:, LOVE:love:  the Middle Earth. It's as if you are reading a historical book:  real places and real events. Everything is so precise and the timeline sume tally. I think Tolkien is one of the greatest writers of all time :tq:.

I pun suka Harry Potter. Ntah brapa kali khatam all the six books. Tak jemu2.

So far this sort of book I baru baca from these two authors. Can anybody suggest any other authors yg best to read....
Thankx

Iza ada the whole set LOTR ni.  But tak leh nak abis kan.  Fellowship of the ring separuh jalan aje.  Tak le susah sangat nak paham tapi entah nape.  Harry Potter iza boleh abiskan dalam masa yang singkat and dah 14 times khatam the whole series and now in the middle of khataming half blood prince kali ke 15.  After this ingat nak cuba lah abiskan LOTR tu..

ada dah silmarillon ni --
tapi sebab dah baca hobbit first
then the trilogy --  long ago
baca silmarillon lambat nampaknya
but not gonna make a diff for me --
kalau kita tahu cerita tentang apa -
dan historically  dan jalan cerita ---
tak susah nak bayangkan cerita tersebut --

all in all -- memang JRR Tolkien ni
one of the great authors all time --

happy  reading --

I agree totally!

Even though i read LOTR first, followed by The Silmarillion then, History of Middle Earth; i really think if one wants to start reading Tolkien's works, they should start with SIlmarillion as it'll get u hooked to the whole STORY of Middle Earth, further inititiating ur interest for LOTR n the hobbit.

I do agree that THE SILMARILLION is THE BEST among his works. i think it's helped by the fact that his son >> Christopher Tolkien edited that book post-humously....

LOTR kipas-susah-mati!!!!! :p

same here with me... my favourite book of all the books i read... LOTR is my fav (together with pride and prejudice by jane austen, still cannot choose which one i prefer more, i know the genre looks contradict, but i love both)... i can't remember how many times i've read the book... but definitely more than i watch the movie trilogy...

harry potter pun baca gak... but it seems i can't read it again and again as LOTR... once or probably twice is enough...

and for C.S Lewis... I try... I really try to read one of the book (the witch and the wardrobe).... but i can't even finish it... not a page turner for me... even the movie i didn't watch... ( i prefer to read the book first before watching the movie)

BUKU dia lagi best  --
movie dia tak best  ---
plot  weak
acting -- tak best langsung
watak eragon tu rasanya tak sesuai
untuk blondie macam edward speleers tu --

kalau nak hiburan kejap  okay  la --
tapi  -- tak leh lawan movie LOTR --

rasa2nya ada eragon2 ni --

kalau u guys ada baca buku dia --
stick to the book -- much better --

Apa yang bestnya LOTR ni? Meleret-leret, pastu tengah-tengah jalan boleh nyanyi-nyanyi pulak... dahlah bahasa satu macam punya kayu...
