OK...here's what my friend got to say in his e-mail:

"Check this out. I don't think it is too expensive I
did not check but it would be perfect. It's near the Charles River and a
nice jog/bike ride through Boston Common over to Tufts. There are others
further away that might be cheaper but the T in the morning is a
nightmare going downtown.

Plus this Hotel gives you passes to The New England Aquarium where I
used to work!

I'm kinda jealous Boston in October is sooooo Beautiful!

Singajantan, if you're looking for a room to rent, usually the best place to look is on craigslist.com. You can look for sublets. There are always students looking for people to rent rooms that are going to be out of town. Reasonably priced? It's Boston. But if someone is desperate the price will come down. Hope that helps.

depends on where you live, the size of the room and what kind of house. if i based on rate in silicon valley and san francisco bay area, which is about the same cost of living as boston, US$1000/month for a room is about the average rate for living in downtown area or in an area closer to it, especially demanded area.

a three bedrooms house in silicon valley cost about US$2300 a month to rent - of course, this is basic house (no swimming pool, only two car garages, and 20-30 - could be 40 - years old house). a studio cost about US$1200-US$1300 a month, and about the same rate for one bedroom apartment.

just to give you an idea.

singajantan...again depend on where you want to stay, just like oobi said. If you are willing to travel from your place to work, you can choose to live outside Boston. Mind you, the traffic in Boston is a nightmare. If not, you can just rent a room downtown or closer to it...and $1000/month will cover it. To be safe, just estimate the rent for about $1200/month.

finally arrived in boston today .... KL-LA-BOSTON

flight ok ...uneventful

tapi kat airport ketat skit kawalan ... tension gaks ..tapi nak buat camne kat tempat orang

now staying near cambridge area ... renting a room from a friend's friend ... very nice and helpful family ..thank you so much

this afternoon will go to tufts ... still finding the route...

and might do some shopping later on...
