KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 ― There is no connection between Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and an Hermes Birkin bag that was recently auctioned for RM820,000, her aide said today after a photo allegedly linking the prime minister's wife to the purchase spread on social media. Datuk Rizal Mansor said the photo being circulated compares the bag that was auctioned to one that was carried by Rosmah, which he admitted looked very similar. “It is as if to show that DS Rosmah is the individual who bought that handbag,” he told Malay Mail Online. “After checking, I found that the photo (of Rosmah) is an old photo taken four years ago at the Bunga Raya Complex in KLIA, when DS Najib and DS Rosmah were leaving the country,” he said, referring to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. Citing a Wall Street Journal report, Rizal stressed that the bag that was auctioned earlier this month is a 2014 model. “Hence, it is not possible for DS Rosmah to be using the same bag in the picture,” he said. Rizal has recently come out in Rosmah's defence following a series of allegations of extravagant spending by Najib and his family. Last week, he rubbished a claim made by whistleblower site Sarawak Report of billionaire businessman Low Taek Jho allegedly financing Rosmah's shopping sprees. Rizal had earlier also defended the lavish wedding of Najib’s and Rosmah's daughter, saying that the cost of the reception was borne by the groom's family. - See more at: http://www.themalaymailonline.co ... thash.e0WmBa0N.dpuf
