Our midfield was crap, defence was annoyingly lembab, & god knows where're the effin strikers
Ze Roberto and Schweinsteiger was so & so, not too bad butdefinitely not up to par.Demichelis is needed back ASAP, please putaltintop on the right side, unless it just looks as if we're bloodyparalysed one side.
Kroos, not ready yet. Works well as a sub.
MVB, WORST CAPTAIN EVER!!aku x heran kalo game 4 dh kene suspended lahm, demi, or even ribery deserves the armband!!:@
crappy game, too many long balls
oh & post-match, big boss sucka Uli the guli was quoted:
"It was obvious we were missing some of our best players. You justcan抰 replace Luca Toni, Franck Rib閞y and Martin Demichelis over thelong haul."
Bludi yell!we are bayern munich. not stoke city. since when a club ofour stature relies should be/put in a position of relying on 3 playersONLY????a stupid excuse to what should've been fixed during transferwindow; halo defence & halo playmaker. One in ribery is simply notenough. problem dh bleh settle with 25+ million or so (10+ for DM &maybe 15+ for AM).
kroos was totally not ready...n aku xpaham nape die yang amik all d free kicks..xkan la si schweinsteiger xleh amik...
van bommel was once d captain for psv eindhoven..so he must be a good leader...maybe he had a bad game aritu..kalo x, xkan la klinsman bagi die kapten... ribery isnt really suited to be a captain. he's more of someone who's always in d situation. a captain is someone who watches d situation from outfield n dictates his colleagues. a DM or a CM is best suited for captaincy..demichelis ok gak..lucio even better...anyway, 1st game of d season, 1st competetive match for klinsman..save d judgement n critics later on.. |

true...true...tapi aku pun heran gak, nape van bommel ni asyik senang sangat kene warning la, kad la...when he was in eindhoven, he was inspirational. had a bad experience in barca, thought he will fit in well with bundesliga..apekah kat bundesliga ni ref die strict sangat? or maybe i'm too used to epl, i dun feel his challenges are too rash?
ur right, players need to know what d clubs want to do. if they're kept in the dark about d club's plan, then players will be a bit uncomfortable. this is where klinsmann needs to stamp his authority. he needs to tell his players what to expect. worst case scenario, players will end up in a 'alonso/barry' situation... d players will feel unappreciated n no motivation to play, while d manager fights with d club's board n directors, but with all that crap happening, asap pun tarak kuar...(use dat on ur scouser-supporting lecturer...) |

International Preview: Germany - Belgium
What: International Friendly
Who: Germany vs. Belgium
When: Wednesday 20th August, 21:00 (CET)
Where: easyCredit Stadion, Nürnberg
Germany play their first match since their Euro 2008 final defeat to Spain back in June when they entertain Belgium in Nürnberg on Wednesday. Joachim Löw will have put the disappointment of Vienna behind him and will have all his focus on South Africa and 2010. Belgium, who missed out on Euro 2008 will also be looking towards the next World Cup.
All Eyes On South Africa
Germany went into this summer’s European Championships as one of the top favourites to lift the title, and despite not hitting their absolute top form, still reached the final where they were beaten by a highly impressive Spain side. That disappointment will now have to be put out of their minds as they turn their attention to qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Bundestrainer Joachim Löw is in a position where he can count upon the bulk of the squad that qualified so easily for Euro 2008, while also being able to introduce a few highly promising youngsters such as Marko Marin, Serdar Tasci, goalkeepers Rene Adler and Manuel Neuer as well as possibly also Toni Kroos.
The main question mark surrounds the successor to outgoing keeper Jens Lehmann. Löw is not short of options with both experienced and young prospects available to him. The sensible money is on him plucking for Manuel Neuer or Rene Adler, or possibly alternating between the two, but he also has the experienced option of Robert Enke and Tim Wiese to choose from.
Even though he was overlooked for the European Championships and this friendly with Belgium, Valencia keeper Timo Hildebrand also has to be a serious contender for the number one jersey.
Germany’s World Cup qualifying group includes Euro 2008 surprise package Russia, as well as Finland, Wales, Azerbaijan and minnows Liechtenstein. With only the group winners guaranteed to qualify (the best runners-up go into a play-off) it looks set to come down between the Germans and the Russians.
Germany has two World Cup qualifiers coming up at the start of September, so this friendly will serve to get the squad back together and prepared for those games. They face Liechtenstein on 6 September and take on Finland four days later. Both games are away from home.
Red Devils Turn To Veterans
Belgium too will be looking to this warm-up match to get them prepared for forthcoming World Cup qualifiers. The Red Devils missed out on the Euro 2008 finals after failing to make it out of a tough Group A in qualifying.
Portugal and Poland were the two to go through, but the Belgians were disappointed to see both Serbia and Finland finish ahead of them in a pool that also included Kazakhstan, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Belgium’s last appearance at a major finals came back in 2002 when they qualified for the World Cup in Korea/ Japan, where they lost to eventual winners Brazil in the second round.
They, like Germany, have a double-header of World Cup qualifiers coming up in September. Rene Vandereycken’s side have been drawn in quite a tough group with newly crowned European champions Spain, Euro 2008 semi-finalists Turkey, as well as Bosnia, Armenia, and Estonia.
55 year old trainer Vandereycken is however going to be a little disadvantaged for the Germany friendly by the fact that a number of his younger stars are in Beijing competing in the Olympics.
Belgium remain the only European side left in the competition and take on Nigeria in the semi final on Tuesday for the chance to meet either Argentina or Brazil in the final. Youngsters such as Anthony vanden Borre, Tom de Mul, Logan Bailly, Kevin Mirallas, and Moussa Dembele will be missing as will Vincent Kompany, who was recalled by his club Hamburg.
Vandereycken has decided to rely on the old guard for this Germany friendly. "I wanted to show some of the older players that i haven’t forgotten them" he explained.
The new Belgian league season, just like the Bundesliga kicked off at the weekend so the players involved will still be a little way off 100% readiness just like their German counterparts.
Their last meeting with Germany came back in 2004 in a friendly in Cologne in which Germany ran out comfortable 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Kevin Kuranyi, Dietmar Hamann, and Michael Ballack. Their last competitive clash was a qualifier for Euro ’92 which Germany also won 1-0 away from home.

TEAM NEWS
Germany
Joachim Löw has seen a number of withdrawals from his original squad. Goalkeeper Rene Adler was forced out last week due to a shoulder injury. Tim Wiese of Werder Bremen has been called up as a replacement, although Robert Enke looks set to start.
A trio of midfielders were also forced to pull out after weekend matches for their clubs. Michael Ballack (ankle), Torsten Frings (muscle) and Jermaine Jones (ankle) have all withdrawn because of injuries.
First-choice centre back Per Mertesacker is also out injured so expect Heiko Westermann to partner Metzelder at the heart of the German back line. |

Belgium
Trainer Rene Vandereycken will be without a number of young players because of the Olympics, but also has other selection worries to deal with. Striker Mbo Mpenza is out injured so won’t be able to form the expected striking partnership with Kevin Vandenbergh.
Wesley Sonck is expected to fill in ahead of younger options Tom de Sutter and Stein Huysegems. 20 year old midfielder Marouane Fellani has had to withdraw from the squad because of illness.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Germany- Lukas Podolski
Joachim Löw may opt to station Podolski out on the left where he was so effective during Euro 2008, but he also has the option of pushing him forward. The Bayern striker is chomping at the bit to become a regular for his club this season, and a good performance on Wednesday could well see him given the nod for Bayern at the weekend over international team mate Miroslav Klose.
Belgium- Daniel van Buyten
Van Buyten will lead the Belgian defence in Nürnberg and will come up against a host of players he is familiar with from his time at Bayern and the Bundesliga. It will be interesting to see how he copes with the likes of Klose, Schweinsteiger and Podolski. He will be keen to impress and get one over his club mates.
PREDICTION
Even though Germany are without some key players, they should still have enough quality to beat a fairly average Belgium side. Robert Enke and Heiko Westermann will want to impress and stake their claim on a starting berth for the coming World Cup matches. We should also see youngsters Marko Marin and Serdar Tasci make an appearance.

Germany beats Belgium 2-0
NUREMBERG, Germany (AP) -European Championship runner-up Germany scored twice in the second half to beat Belgium 2-0 in a friendly Wednesday.
Bastian Schweinsteiger converted a penalty in the 59th after Daniel van Buyten had pulled down Mario Gomez and substitute Marko Marin added the second in the 77th.
Both teams used the match to prepare for next month's start of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup.
Germany played without several injured starters, including captain Michael Ballack and another midfielder, Torsten Frings.
"So early in the season, with a fairly new lineup, we played quite well,'' Germany coach Joachim Loew said. "We tried to play at high pace, we passed well, the second goal was well created.''
Lukas Podolski, who played in midfield at the European Championship, returned to his usual place in the attack alongside Miroslav Klose. Podolski was the target of a martial arts-style attack from Belgium goalkeeper Stijn Stijnen, who rushed off his line outside the penalty area and instead of clearing the ball slammed foot-first into the German forward.
Podolski was left with a bleeding wound and kept clutching his right side until the end of the first half. He did not return and neither did the out-of-form Klose. They were replaced by Gomez and Kevin Kuranyi.
In its first match since losing the Euro 2008 final 1-0 to Spain in June, Germany had most of the possession while Belgium relied on counterattacks.
Klose's only chance came after 15 minutes but Stijnen got his fingertips onto the shot and flipped it over the crossbar.
Belgium's best chance came after Axel Witsel's pass but Tom de Sutter's nibble flick went close outside the post.
Bastian Schweinsteiger then drove a volley high from close range, but Germany could not score in the first half despite long periods of dominance and there were scattered jeers as the teams left for the break.
Little changed in the second half. Stijnen tipped away a long-range shot form Philipp Lahm in the 53rd, before van Buyten gave away the penalty. Schweinsteiger took the shot and sent Stijnen the wrong way.
Marin, who was cut shortly before the Euros and was making his second appearance for Germany, scored the second goal after a neat 1-2 play with Lahm that befuddled the Belgian defense. Marin faked van Buyten before curling his shot inside the post.
"I am glad to be back and I hope I'll return for the next game,'' Marin said.
Belgium coach Rene Vandereycken said he was pleased with his young team's performance.
"But on the second goal we did not defend well. It was a nice goal but with five defenders against two men, we should not concede such a goal,'' he said.
