Casillas Takes Blame For Second Goal
“After analyzsng the play, I recognize that I am to blame for the second goal,” he was quoted as saying by Marca.
“Instinctively, I thought the ball would go over the wall and I took a step forward. And because of that, my right post was left unprotected.
“I have to swallow my pride and admit my mistake because I cannot blame anyone else. If I had not taken that one step, I would have caught it,” added the man nicknamed Saint Iker. |

Del Piero Thanks Bernabéu Crowd
Alessandro Del Piero, the Juventus captain, has thanked the Real Madrid supporters for giving him a 'very memorable and unique experience' in last night's Champions League clash..
el Piero became only the second player in recent memory from a rival team – after Ronaldinho – to be given a standing ovation by the often uncompromising Real Madrid fans at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The iconic Bianconeri forward scored both goals in his side’s 2-0 win last night, before being taken off in the final minutes of the game. The Bernabéu faithful, furious with their own team, decided to applaud the 33-year-old as he made his way off the pitch.
“The Bernabéu has given me very memorable and unique experience,” he said after the match.
“It’s great to score both goals in such an important victory but to have a crowd like the one at this stadium cheer for me when I left the game… it has been fantastic.”
Finally, the Juve captain joked about Maradona’s presence in the stands: “If Maradona’s attendance in the crowd brought us luck to win this game, then I think he should come and watch all our games.
“But I wish him all the best with the Argentine national team,” he added. |
