Astro’s marketing style, however, raises questions as well as eyebrows
SO have all of you had your fix of satay, ketupat, lemang, beef rendang and more over the Aidilfitri period?
We bet you have. And, speaking of beef, we’re having one too with some folks at Astro.
After the critically-acclaimed release of P.Ramlee... Di Mana Kan Ku Cari Ganti : Satu Indiepretasi — a project spearheaded by XFM, the 100 per cent Malaysian content radio arm under Astro’s AMP, it looks like the vultures have started circling.
Now we hear another “Indiepretasi” is rolling out and though while the first act featured the hottest names among the independent and crossover acts to tingle the senses of music lovers — this time, there’s a seriously strange mix of names.
Perhaps due to the success of the “Indiepretasi” branding, some powers that be at Astro appear to have “hijacked” the project.
And while it is worth celebrating the names that are in like Tilu, Drama Bingit, Najwa Mahiaddin, Azlan & The Typewriter, we can’t help but question the inclusion of several other names.
Indeed, just what is so “indie” about names like Suki Low, Hafiz Suip, Adira Suhaimi and Hazama Azmi, despite their immense talents?
The inclusion of the final three names can be seen as a desperate attempt by Astro Entertainment Sdn Bhd (the supposedly-defunct, or soon-to-be-so as we’ve heard, which also incorporates the management of Akademi Fantasia talents of which the trio are from — to beef up their talents’ portfolio.
One thing is for sure, despite the musical genius shared through the first installment of Indiepretasi, it looks like Astro has chosen to compromise one of their few credible brand names, for the sake of — again — hard selling their own manufactured talents.
guess some of u may have read about this kat twitter reputs ni....die siap mencarut kat twitter....hummm...die ni nampak sgt masih menyimpan dendam kesumat dgn hafiz....tak tau lah nape kan?....sejak dari AF lagi....cuma aku nak komen sikit....what's the big deal kalo hafiz terlibat dgn projek ini....die cuma nak nyanyi satu lagu je pun bukannya nak kluarkan satu album indie ke aper.....kalau tang yg ni bole pulak die nak kondem pasal marketing strategi AESB....dah projek dorg mestilah nak promote artis yg dorg "manufactured" sendiri....well.....it's all about business.....seandainyer projek ini diuruskan oleh Media Prima tak mustahil kalo bintang2 mentor pun terlibat....hak masing2 kekdahnyer....tak kan die tak paham2 lagi....apasal die tak nak kritik benda2 lain yg lebih lagi obvious menunjukkan kelembapan strategi pemasaran AESB.....ke die tak puas hati sbb artis yg die puja tak masuk dalam senarai kot??....
p/s: komen di atas hanya ditujukan kpd reputs yg berkenaan dan AESB....tiada kaitan dgn org2 lain yg sewaktu dgnnyer... |
