Michael Ballack To Extend Blues Stay
Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack is set to enter negotiations regarding a possible contract extension, according to The Sun...
After arriving at Stamford Bridge in 2006, Ballack initially struggled with the pace and power of the Premier League and appeared well on his way to earning the dreaded 'flop' tag by the end of his first season.
But the former Bayern Munich man overcame a series of injury problems last term to establish himself as a key member of the Blues' midfield, scoring and creating a host of vital goals during the latter half of an almost successful campaign.
The German star has been mired on the sidelines with a foot injury this season, but he recently voiced his desire to spend the rest of his career in West London.
And he may get that opportunity, if Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon's recent comments are anything to go by.
Ballack's current contract contains a clause which allows an 18-month extension, and Kenyon said: 揗ichael has played a great part for Chelsea and there is no reason for us not to exercise that option. |
