Giggs impressed by United depth
Ryan Giggs hailed the depth of his team after Darron Gibson and Danny Welbeck played a key role against Derby.
Manchester United came away with a 4-1 victory at Pride Park.
Irish midfielder Gibson earned man-of-the-match honours after capping his best display to date for United with the second goal.
Welbeck then came on to put the icing on the cake with a fine fourth.
"We've obviously got a good squad," Giggs told ITV.
"We'll need all the players now we're in all the cups and leagues. We'll need them all and we've got good players coming in like Gibbo and Danny Welbeck and when they are in they take their chances."
Gibson's 44th-minute strike came moments after Cristiano Ronaldo had a goal controversially ruled out for offside.
While the decision was correct, celebrations were well under way before the assistant referee raised his flag, as he had first checked with the fourth official that Giggs had got a touch to pick out Ronaldo.
The incident infuriated Sir Alex Ferguson but did not throw United off their game.
"Obviously we were celebrating, thinking we've scored only to look back and see the linesman flagging," Giggs said.
"But we just got on with it and the attitude was good after that."
Ferguson was still unhappy about the incident after the game, but could afford a smile when asked if the officials had explained what happened to him.
"I got an explanation but whether that works or not, I'm not sure," he said.
Ferguson also echoed Giggs' comments about the depth of United's squad.
"I've been saying for some weeks with all the injuries, it's the squad that's been carrying us through difficult games and they proved it again today. With the game on Wednesday (against Fulham in the league) in mind I made some changes and it worked out well."
Nigel Clough is still in the early stages of his Derby reign but has already faced United twice and knew this would be a difficult match.
"It probably puts it in perspective when you consider the side we're playing against," he said. "They could pretty much score at will.
"We had a good spell after (United's third goal) and we might have got it back to 3-2, but overall we're pleased with the performance even though we lost 4-1.
"We kept going, we kept playing when it would have been easy to roll over."

kalo semalam keeper terhebat di dunia main dah tentu tak bolos sebijik....
in fact, opponent nak shoot on goal pon takleh....
maklumlah, top class keeper ada special ability to "read the game"
btw, kalo buleh dia buleh read the game, might as well dia read tapak kaki haku...budget bila nak hinggap kat muka dia. :@ |

Real Madrid and Manchester United have reportedly agreed a £87m fee for Cristiano Ronaldo next summer, according to AS.
AS claims that meetings have taken place between the player's agent, Jorge Mendes, and Manchester United officials, which resulted in that price being agreed on.
Reports this week claimed that Madrid have even taken out a loan to buy the player, although this has been denied. |
