Animals can never become self-conscious and create their own society like Humans. They will remain in such static situation forever - just as the Dinosaurs which lived millions of years till their destruction 46 million years ago did.
Tell me atheists - Do you wish to become static in such way, that some day, Death will come for you as well?
Last time I checked - the Communists in Russia (1900 - 1980s) and China today (since 1950s) have been doing BAD things world over, and they didn't need any religions.
Human being are capable of doing great good (like Mahatma Gandhi dan Mother Theresa) and great Evil (like Saddam Hussein, Hitler, Osama bin Laden etc). It has nothing to do with religion. It has everything to do with your own Mind and which direction it is going.
Blaming religion for human's misconduct is like blaming the mother for the child's criminal activity. A mother can teach the child good and bad, but it is up to the child to accept what is right, discard what is wrong and choose his own path. If he cannot even do that, then he is no better than an animal.

There is always something to turn your back against.
You can turn your back against Humanity by becoming an animal which endorse only in fullfilling one's own desires and lust.
You can turn your back on trying to find God, believing it is a useless tasks. Once you close your mind to God, you will move further and further away from finding God and eventually, become nothing more than an animal which lives in static existence.
You can turn your back on higher level philosophy. You can always think you will be able to gasp what is right and wrong, but you will forever influence by your sensors which demands you fullfull it like eternally hungry beast (or parasite). In the end of your life, you will only see your life as nothing more than series of actions to feed this beast and will wonder if you had ever lived. That is when Death will become a scary thing.
And finally, when your back is against the Sun, what is in front of you will be your Shadow. And there are things living within the Shadow and Darkness, which you WOULD NOT want to meet.
No one can prove anything IF one do not wishes to accept the proof as evidence.
All humans have certain level of controls over their minds - whether by meditation or other forms of control like emotions. Fear for example, will make one see ONLY what they wish to see. Stockholm Syndrome for example is a perfect example. When a person have been held captive by a terrorists (or criminals) with weapons, fear within them will initialize the drive to survive, and in order to survive, the prisoner will accept and even work with the criminal/terrorists to ensure their own survival.
In the same manner, IF atheists had accepted there is no God, then they will intune their mind to accept no God. If they continue to exist to fullfill their own desires and lust, they will do anything to continue such existence and will deny anything which denies them their fullfillment - which includes religions which prohibits certain activities as sinful (like adultery).
Also, this could also explain why some religions (and cults) are "man-made" and willingly followed by many. For them who want to fullfill their desires due to their weakness of the mind and flesh, they require a release from their sinful burden, and this "man-made" religions and cults will provide them that release. It does not mean that there is God in that religion, it merely means that those religions (and cults) fullfill their desires and (mental) needs.
Therefore atheists - you have no God because you choose not to have God. And you WILL live with that choice.
