New Valencia president Soriano dismisses all Villalonga appointments
Vicente Soriano has been named new Valencia president after Juan Villalonga's departure yesterday.
Villalonga has left the board and Soriano announced yesterday that sports director Xavier Azkargorta has also been dismissed, along with all other appointments made since Villalonga's arrival 15 days ago.
Juan Sanchez has been reinstated as Valencia sports director, having been moved sideways when Villalonga accepted an invitation from majority shareholder Juan Soler to join the board.
Valencia midfielder David Albelda is happy to finally see the back of former president Juan Soler and he believes that there will now be a wave of changes at the club.
Less than 24 hours after Juan Bautista Soler officially severed his ties with Valencia CF by selling his majority share package and handing over control to Vicente Soriano, the team’s veteran midfielder, David Albelda happily declared that it was a joy to see the ex-president finally exit the club.
Albelda had a rocky relationship with Soler, one which culminated in the player being controversiolly axed from the squad, along with teammates Santiago Cañizares and Miguel Ángel Angulo, midway through last season and told that he would never again play for Los Ché.
All that has suddenly changed with Soler’s departure and the 30 year old could now see himself back in favour with his beloved Valencia.
“In all sincerity, it is a joy for me to see him go but I wish it had happened sooner,” he beamed during an interview with Radio Nou.
The loyal defensive midfielder said that he now expects some major changes at the club with the instalment of Vicente Soriano as the new president and the exit of Jesus Wollstein, Soler’s adviser and right hand man.
“The changes are happening slowly, starting with Soler’s old personnel being ousted at the club. This immediately gives credibility to Soriano but we have to wait and see if he really is working independently without any influences from Soler,” explained Albelda, with a hint of caution.
The former team captain then declared that he is ready to put everything behind him and look forward to the future, hopefully one that will remain in Ché colours.
“My situation with Soler has hurt me a lot. I do not want to be a problem for Valencia but that is no longer an issue now that he is gone. Things have happened at a personal level that have made us all suffer but it is necessary to push forward now.”
He concluded by saying that he will now speak to the new president and his board to clear up his future: “If they believe I have to go, then I will go but if we come to an agreement that I can stay, then I will stay and I will give my best on the field.”

Penampilan tak stabil Timo Hildebrand memaksa Valencia mencari kiper anyar. Beberapa nama sudah masuk dalam kantong, kini tinggal mengusahakan salah satu dari mereka datang ke Mestalla.

Barisan kiper El Che memang tak cukup mumpuni.
Andujar sendiri kabarnya dibandrol Estudiantes La Plata sebesar
Following an extended holiday after their Euro 2008 victory it was time for David Villa, Raul Albiol, Carlos Marchena and David Silva to put in some extra training hours in Valencia today. Joining the quartet was Italian defender Emiliano Moretti who is recovering from an injury to his left leg.
Despite the majority of the Valencia squad enjoying a day of rest it was not such a relaxing time for the Spaniards who played a part in the Euro 2008 triumph or Emiliano Moretti. Working to the orders of physical coach Miguel Villagrasa they trained alone in a bid to try and build up their fitness for the upcoming season.
Whilst the rest of squad has trained in Holland and played friendly matches in Germany the four Spaniards enjoyed an extended holiday. Tomorrow they will take part in a double training session with the rest of the team as manager Unai Emery continues to prepare them for the new season. His plans will no doubt have been boosted by the presence of Villa and Silva, both of whom were rumoured to be on the move after their success at Euro 2008.
Valencia last season finished a disappointing 10th in the Liga, mainly under the stewardship of Ronald Koeman, whose training methods did not find favour with all.
Emery, meanwhile, guided Almería to a top half finish in his first ever Primera assignment.
GLADBACH DEFEATS LOW CONDITION VALENCIA CF AT SECOND FRIENDLY MATCH (4-2)
Borussia Mönchengladbach’s longest running at pre-season and Valencia CF’s tiredness after hard training in Holland were the key points at pre-season’s second friendly. Gladbach made the most of their chances and so Žigić and Mata goals were not enough to get the victory. Germans showed a better condition than VCF just one week before the first round of German Cup setting a strong pace and keeping the ball closer to Hildebrand’s area.
At Gladbach second chance, Friend sidefooted a missed clearance in at 8. After 1-0 VCF players did not get intimidated and Fernandez-Baraja team-up passed every time better balls to Angulo and Žigić. At 24 Angulo got in behind the German defence and sent a perfect ball in that Žigić headed to the net.
However, Gladbach put 2-1 in less than a minute in the score after a possible foul on Pablo Hernández. The game entered an equality phase but VCF could not bring danger to Heimeroth’s goal. Small details became decisive. On the edge of the break, Friend scored 3-1 after a miss in the defence.
Emery rotated almost the whole team for the second half as previously done against Bochum - only Del Horno and Alexis remained from the initial eleven exhausted after intense training in Holland. Pace went slower and Mata narrowed the score 10 minutes to the end, but there was no time for a fightback. Gladbach reacted at the very next play and so Germans put the final 4-2.
Valencia CF will return from Düsseldorf next Sunday to continue training. Next friendly match will be against Newcastle next Saturday August 9th and first official match of the season will be on August 17th at Supercopa against Real Madrid.

Spurs are reportedly looking to smash the British transfer record to land Valencia's Spanish striker David Villa.
And while £32m is no small beer to splash out on one player, as this need-to-know guide demonstrates, he might turn out to be worth every penny.
1) David Villa Sanchez was born on December 3rd, 1981 in Langreo, a small town in Asturias region of northern Spanish. His nickname is El Guaje, which is Castilian for The Kid, and he has a daughter, Zaida, with his wife Patricia.
2) His career was almost over before it had even started, when he suffered a sever fracture to his femur as a nine-year-old. Fortunately, an unusual non-invasive treatment led to a complete recovery, and David was signed up by Spanish second division side Sporting de Gijon.
3) After scoring 50 times in three years, he was signed by Real Zaragoza in 2003. Villa was an instant success, scoring 17 times in his first La Liga season – including a crucial goal against Real Madrid on the way to the team’s Copa del Rey victory.
4) He moved to Valencia in 2005 for £8m and started paying back his transfer fee immediately, finishing the 2005/06 season just behind Barcelona’s Samueal Eto’o in the La Liga scoring lists with 25 goals.
5) In that first season he scored one of the fastesthat-tricks in La Liga history, netting three times in five minutesagainst Athletic Bilbao on April 23, which you can see below:
6) Displaying impeccable timing, he also scored a hat-trick against Levante during his 100th game for Valencia.
7) His strike-rate is truly phenomenal. At Valencia David averages better than a goal every other game (bagging 70 in 130 appearances), and he’s racked up a career total 148 goals in 307 professional appearances.
8) He’d be hard pushed to beat this stunning effort from the half-way line against Deportivo la Coruna, mind:
9) He made his debut for Spain in a 5-0 victory overSan Marino on February 9th, 2005. He quickly ousted Spanish legend Raulfrom the senior squad and has gone on to win 35 caps, scoring 18 goalsin the process, including this stunner in a friendly against Italy:
10) Clearly unfazed by the big stage, he’s shone at the two major international tournaments he’s so far been involved in. Alongside Fernando Torres, Villa was Spain’s joint top scorer at the 2006 World Cup with three goals, and the tournament’s top score at Euro 2008 with four. Sadly he missed the final after picking up an injury in the previous game against Russ

Newcastle United rose to the friendly occasion by giving cash-strapped Valencia more problems - defeating them two goals to one. James Milner secured victory for the Magpies...
A pleasant surprise for Newcastle United fans as Obefami Martins starts who had originally been reported injured. Valencia field ten recognised internationally-capped footballers in the hope of providing a tough test for the black and whites.
As the game gets underway, Newcastle United enjoy the lions share of chances, with Valencia popping up occasionally to trouble Given in front of 30,000+ geordie fans.
Valencia are first to score, much to the dismay of the home support, as Moretti's long through ball is nodded down by former Liverpool frontman Fernando Morientes. An unmarked Joaquin bursts into the penalty box and strikes a low shot past the Irish international, Shay.
If Newcastle are to level, they would do well to capitalise on Milner's success down the right flank as he continues to get past his man and play dangerous balls.
Valencia however lead going into the break. Milner begins the second half as he left the first, providing most of Newcastle's attacking flair and providing dangerous balls to the receiving Martins. The Nigerian's needs to work on his touch and shot though, as he fails to trouble Valencia's German goalkeeper, Timo Hilderbrand.
The Tyneside firm eventually get their equaliser through an unmarked Damian Duff who drifts in to head home and all Timo can do is ball-watch and stay rooted to the ground.
As the match draws to a close, James Milner provides a last-gasp injury time winner driving the ball home from six yards after Taylor noded down from a Gutierrez cross.
