Thanks to all who updated on the earthquake in Acheh. Here is the formal report on the news.

Breaking - 8.7 earthquake in Aceh, tsunami alert issued (Update)
Posted on 11 April 2012 - 05:36pm
Last updated on 11 April 2012 - 06:38pm

PETALING JAYA (April 11, 2012): The 8.7 magnitude on the Richter scale earthquake recorded off the west coast of Aceh has triggered a tsunami watch alert for surrounding areas including Malaysia.

The earthquake, which occurred at around 4.39pm (0839 GMT) local time today, has yet to generate a tsunami, but surrounding countries have been alerted for appropriate action.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has estimated initial tsunami wave arrival times for Georgetown and Port Dickson at 1311 GMT and 1743GMT (9.11pm tonight and 1.43am tomorrow local time).

The US Geological Survey reported the quake was centred 33km beneath the ocean floor around 495km from the provincial capital of Banda Aceh.

Tremors were felt in Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and surrounding areas at around 4.45pm, lasting about five minutes.

Meteorological Department Geophysical and Tsunami Division head Dr Rosaidi Che Abas said an alert has been issued to people in Penang, Perlis, Perak and Kedah to stay away from beaches.

"We will continue to monitor closely the movement of the tsunami, if any, and if necessary, we will issue an evacuation warning," he said when contacted.

Meteorological Department director general Dr Yap Kok Seng when contacted also said that the department has yet to detect any tsunamis headed towards Malaysian shores.

Aceh was in 2004 devastated by the 9.0 magnitude earthquake on December 26, killing 230,000 people in 14 countries, including 68 people in Malaysia. It is the third largest recorded earthquake in the world.

Ini mungkin ada kaitan dengan pattern 188-days-earthquake. And this actually has been predicted. I'll try to update on this.

P.S So far, no tsunami has occurred.

Update: Magnitude 6.5 Aftershock Reported in Aceh, Tsunami Warning in Effect
April 11, 2012

An aftershock measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale hit Aceh around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon, according to Indonesia’s Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

A tsunami warning is still in effect for Sumatra and more than 25 countries, including: Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

The epicenter of the aftershock was 42 kilometers off the Indian Ocean.

Indonesia issued a tsunami warning Wednesday afternoon after an earlier earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 8.5 hit waters off westernmost Aceh province.

People on Twitter said tremors were felt in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and India. High-rise apartments and offices on Malaysia’s west coast shook for at least a minute.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the powerful quake was centered 20 miles (33 kilometers) beneath the ocean floor around 308 miles (495 kilometers) from Aceh’s provincial capital.

Said, an official at Indonesia’s BMKG who goes by only one name, said a tsunami warning has been issued for Aceh, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, Lampung and Bengkulu.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued a tsunami warning for the following 27 countries: Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Australia, Burma, Thailand, Maldives, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Reunion, Seychelles, Pakistan, Somalia, Oman, Madagascar, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Comores, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Mozambique, Kenya, Crozet Islands, Kerguelen Islands, South Africa and Singapore.

Indonesia straddles a series of fault lines that makes the vast island nation prone to volcanic and seismic activity.

A giant 9.1-magnitude quake off the country on Dec. 26, 2004, triggered a tsunami in the Indian Ocean that killed 230,000 people, nearly three quarter of them in Aceh.

Late News - More than 600 dolphins have died in Peru!

Biological Hazard in Peru on Friday, 30 March, 2012 at 03:13 (03:13 AM) UTC.

Biohazard name:    Mass. Die-off (doplhins)
Biohazard level:    0/4 ---
Biohazard desc.:    This does not included biological hazard category.
Symptoms:
Status:    Confirmed

Hardy Jones, co-founder of BlueVoice.org is reporting that over 600 dolphins have mysteriously washed up on the north coast of Peru. Details are still surfacing over a shocking and unexplained mortality event (UME), which has claimed the lives of hundreds of dolphins along the Peruvian coastline. Jones who is currently in Chiclayo investigating the deaths, said he arrived in the country on Tuesday in response to an email alert from Dr. Carlos Yaipen Llanos, the Lima-based director of the marine mammal rescue organization, ORCA Peru. Yaipen's email informed Jones that as many as one thousand dolphins had possibly stranded themselves on the Peruvian coastline. "Lest there be any doubt," Jones said in a statement today at The Voice of the Dolphins, "stranded means dead in virtually all cases." Jones was already on high alert after rumors described a similar event in the same area last month, when media reports claimed 264 bottlenose dolphin had died on a 66-mile stretch of coastline 500 miles north of Lima. At the time of the event, the dolphin deaths were attributed to contaminated anchovies, or the impact of off-shore oil exploration and drilling in the region.

Yet, said Jones, "after some authorities dismissed the report. I backed off the story." But Yaipen's email announcement disturbed the BlueVoice co-founder: "If the numbers were even close to accurate this would be perhaps the greatest dolphin mortality event ever recorded. I called Dr. Yaipen. He had a man on the ground north of Chiclayo who confirmed large numbers of dolphins stranded along 200 kilometers of the coast." Jones flew to Peru on Tuesday determined he said, to find evidence of the 1,000 dolphins. "We were told the greatest concentration was three hours drive north," Jones added, but only a few hundred yards into their trip, the crew began to spot dead dolphins. Sporadic sightings at first revealed dolphins either in various stages of decomposition, or freshly stranded. "All were dead," Jones said, including, "a new born common dolphin, umbilicus still attached." Yaipen, he added, conducted necropsies on several of the dolphins, and took samples for laboratory testing.

Jones, Yaipen and his assistants, continued to count dolphins until the rising tide forced them of the beach. Jones reported the devastating final tally via Facebook: "To date we have found 615 dead dolphins on 135 kilometers of beach N of San Jose, Peru. This tragedy is unspeakable. BlueVoice is working with Dr. Carlos Yaipen Llanos of ORCA Peru. Tissue samples have been obtained and will be analyzed. Never heard of this level of UME. This must be investigated." BlueVoice board of directors member, Jeff Friedman, told Digital Journal that Jones has confirmed the "primary species [...] found, was long-beaked common dolphin." Jones and Yaipen are currently in a Lima lab testing samples taken from the dead dolphins. Long-beaked common dolphins are usually found in groups averaging from 100-500 animals, but have been occasionally seen in larger herds of thousands of individuals. BlueVoice.org hopes to release video, images and further information shortly, said Friedman.

This is sad. So sad. Something is killing all these dolphins.

There are actually TWO (2) AFTERSHOCK Quakes that hit Indonesia after the 1st hit, 8.9 SR. So there are actually THREE (3) +8 SR quakes in just ONE (1) day. Quite unusual, I must say. 425 feet deep of water is missing from New Zealand's coast and 130 feet deep of water is missing from Australia's north coast. There are about 13 buoys now in event  mode. Please go the link below to see all 13 buoys.

Thailand issued an evacuation order on Wednesday for its Andaman coast, a magnet for foreign tourists, after a massive earthquake off Indonesia triggered a tsunami alert. Thailand's National Disaster Warning Centre advised people in the area to move to higher places and stay as far away as possible from the sea. "All people along the Andaman coast must evacuate to safe areas. We expect a tsunami 1.6 to 2.0 metres high to hit Phuket and Phang Nga at 17:40 (10:40 GMT)," the centre's director Somsak Khaosuwan said on Thai television.
