According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mirror, Manchester United are hoping to complete the signing of Walsall starlet Richard Penikit.

Apparently, the highly-rated 16-year-old striker starred in a recent trial-game when he scored a hat-trick to impress the scouts.

It is thought that Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson is eager to ensure that a deal for the player who has been described as a giant is sorted as soon as possible, and will therefore bid for his services in the coming week.

League One club Walsall are keen to hang on to the talented youngster, who is eligible to represent either England or Wales at international level, but are resigned to losing the player to the European Champions.
