psl i ada kawan yg anak buat A level and lepas setahun kena kicked out from school sbb gagal..
sek tu pun pentingkan prestasi,so since dia pon dh setahun dgn A level she went on and reg anak dia dkt private school and took different subjects(ikut kata dia klu first year fail those subjects govt dh x benarkan repeat same ones),betul ke?
before this i ada tgk buku2 A level anak kawan i ni,dah mcm diploma student pon ye,ada subjects mcm you mentioned plus business studies..
i x faham sgt campuran subjects yg dia ambik ni....
since anak dia x de bm paper,she has to go to manchester utk sit for bm paper..klu balik nak enroll private uni je..
unlike my other friend,her doter is doing good in A level and dpt uni scholarship utk continue her studies in manchester uni..ni A level dia buat di local school in UK la,bukan international school..but A level sama je kan baik international school mahu pun local british school

Bukan O levels ke yg setaraf SPM?
A levels setaraf STPM/ foundation/ IB , di mana result nya akan tentukan boleh masuk uni mana

mahal? Yes. Tapi baru std 3 dah start menghafaz albaqarah.

You have to understand the system in UK. It is called college but not college like uni per se. Let me quote you an example. Mara Junior Science College is called a college but is it really a college? No it is not. It's a school. And that is similar like what we have in UK. And yeah, a school is called a college in UK if it's a private school. Normal school is still called a school. Heck, even some lower primary schools are called college over there. Long story short, it is just a name.
The thing about our system is, A-Level in Malaysia is only offered in higher tertiary college like Sunway, Taylors and the list goes on. That's why you might feel like you go and do your A-Level in college. But in the UK, A-Level is taught in schools. We have our own national curricular, SPM but SPM is not recognized for international university enrollment. So we have to take A-Level (which in my opinion is a bit double dipping because AS is just like SPM) to be able to have a certificate that is recognized. And A-Level is not offered in schools in Malaysia. Private college je banyak buat. Maybe that's where the misunderstand came.
Like I said, had my early education in the UK, then returned back to complete both my PMR and SPM locally, then did my A-Level and attained my degree from the UK. Nothing is wrong with either syllabus honestly. But I have to agree with some folks that locally, kita kurang galakkan budak2 get the soft skills and build character. It's all about getting As. Not saying it's wrong but it's something that we can improve. Maybe parents pun kena mainkan peranan yang lebih efektif.

tu lah..dia ambik A level dia pulak confius..IGCSE/O level setaraf spm..ioll rasa budak ni guna result trial..tak merasa matrix..sbb tu dia kata a level sama dgn SPM tp advance sikit.. ioll merasa matrix kejap ioll rasa matrix jauh dr susah dr A level..A level kacang je..cuma ye lah paper 3 kn experiment..matrix mana ada paper experiment..so taraf sekolah menengah kt msia dah belajar taraf pre uni kt UK!!anyway..STPM 3 exam tersusah di dunia..

A level is pre uni la..setaraf dgn STPM/matrix/IB/foundation..bila masa A level ni setaraf SPM dik??ko kena ambik A level bkn sbb SPM tak laku..kalau ko nk apply uni kt UK ko perlukn STPM!!bkn SPM..STPM is PRE UNI!!..ko tgk bristol mcm contoh http://www.bristol.ac.uk/international/countries/malaysia.html
dia terima STPM sbb STPM is pre uni..which is sama taraf dgn A level..tp mcm ko ckp lah..A level tu ala2 SPM tp susah sikit je..pdhal A level tu ptt susah mcm STPM!! |

Nope. Even if you have SPM, still kena amik AS and A2. Like I said, AS memang mcm SPM. A2 more advanced. I am not trying to dismiss any syllabus here tapi just nak betulkan perception setengah2 orang yang rasa syllabus UK tu senang sgt. AS memang betul lebih kurang SPM but not A2.

Alhamdulillah. Itulah yang sebaik-baiknya. Saya pun kalau boleh nak cari islamic school. Dunia dapat, akhirat pun dapat.

mmg la..sbb SPM tu setaraf dgn O level/igcse je..haruslah kena ambik A level.. A level tu pre uni dik..STPM tu pre uni..SPM bkn pre uni ye dik..kalau ko mintak uni sama ada dia terima A level atau STPM..

Ha ah, A-Level sama je baik buat dekat international school or local british school. Tapi buat A-Level dari Malaysia with SPM rugi masa sikit la. Sebab most Malaysians habis SPM 17 tahun. By the time sambung A-Level, umur dah 18 tahun. Masuk buat A-Level 2 tahun (some people buat 1.5 years and enroll even before result SPM keluar), umur dah 20 tahun baru masuk uni. Kalau belajar ikut system diorang dari awal, by the time your child is 18 dah boleh masuk uni. So jimat 2 tahun la. Like the British folks in my batch, mostly mmg younger. Umur 22 dah boleh start kerja.

Hahaha. Kan? Tell me about it. Masuk kerja, ya ampun. Soft skills tak dak langsung. Tapi result first class, 4.0 memanjang. Nak interact dengan orang? Fail. Tak tahu nak assume responsibility. Semua nak kena spoon feed. Majority lah, bukan semua. In the end kan, I think your upbringing has a lot to do with how the kids are molded. Hantarla sekolah hebat mana pun, tapi kalau parents tak mainkan peranan susah jugak.

Kalau amek spm kelebihannya senang nk apply keje kat malaysia esp kalo nk kije gomen..n also to apply for local uni enrolment..govt scholarship..
Kalau takdak spm..payah banyak la nak apply sume tu..

anak kawan di sini utk gcse kena go for practical,ala2 uni practical gitu for few weeks..

kak sarah google je website sekolah..dia akn tulis igcse/o level equivalent tp spm..kalau nk masuk uni kt uk..dorang terima..A level/IB/STPM(ni pre uni) and such..

kalau kt msia umur 16 igcse/o level..lepas tu ambik A level..umur 17-18..masuk uni plg awl umur 18(tu pon kalau excel study sbb selalu yg buat setahun setengah ni ala2 fast track..tp selalu org buat 2 tahun..so masuk uni umur antara 18/19..
kalau spm..umur 17..a level umur 18-19..msuk uni sama ada umur 19/20..beza setahun..atau tak ada beza..depends dkt individu..
