Red Bull’s Renault complaints bullsh*t’ – Sam Michael
Williams Technical Director Sam Michael has slammed any criticisms from Red Bull Racing regarding engine manufacturer Renault, with the general feeling in the paddock having been that the French unit lacked power in comparison to rivals Mercedes-Benz.
Word from Red Bull had it that the Renaults powering Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel were lacking in horsepower ranks to Mercedes, with the diamond powerplants believed to be giving out approximately 30 less than those of the silver arrows; Michael, however, is not convinced.
“It's been interesting, how they say the Renault lacks power,” the Australian commented when talking to Germany’s Motorsport-Total.com.
“We all know the facts and can see the bullsh*t very clearly; teams just do it to try and gain an advantage. That engine has often been on pole position this year, so you can’t tell me it doesn’t have enough power.
"The teams that claim such things are just lobbying for a power upgrade - and that's okay because it’s all part of the game. People are just trying to increase their power through lobbying.”
