I don't know what to say, she made me speechless....
If you feel like bashing me because you're her fan, I challenge you to read carefully what I'm saying, and challenge my points with intellectual arguments.
Ok, I hadn't been in Malaysia for more than 4 years but I knew of the existance of Mawi, and later his ex, Diana Naim. And somehow I knew that she got into the entertainment industry.
Only last night I was reminded of her and I decided to see her singing. So I looked her up on youtube. And I found a video of her singing Duhai Hati.
I was speechless when I heard the first minute of the show. Oh my God. I've never heard anybody who calls him/herself a singer who sings that bad in my life. She's off key throughout the song, as if she's allergic to the key. It's very disturbing, really. I felt like I was abused, and I really sympathize her live audience. If you have any knowledge and/or traininig or talent in music or simply not tone deaf, you cannot deny that she was more than terrible, at least in that performance.
I saw her other video, in which she's lip synching and I don't mind lip synching. I assume they used her real official recording in that performance. But it felt so boring. I'm not talking about the melody, I'm talking about her enthusiasm in singing the song. You don't have to look at her while she's singing. Just listen to it (I assume that's what you'll hear from her CD too). It seems nak tanak. You have to be very expressive in singing the song that you're supposed to popularize, not sabotage it.
I don't have any personal problem with her. I'm not a Mawi's fan. I don't care what happened between them. I just don't like people taking music lightly, especially when they want to be broadcasted. It's just wrong to mass-pollute like that.
And I just hate it when people destroy our music industry. She has the look, I admit it. But she's missing one important thing: talent. If you wanna sing, at least know how to sing. If you're not great yet, fine. At least know how to stay on key. That's among the most basic of all things you should know about singing.
I heard she's getting engaged. Her future husband has one important duty for mankind: either teach her how to sing, or don't let any human being hear her singing again. Otherwise it's just inhumane. |
