1000TH VICTORY: MORIENTES AND VICENTE EXTEND A CRUSHING LEAGUE START WITH A VICTORY OVER A SLOW GETAFE (2-0)
       

The goals of a lethal Morientes and the best Vicente were enough to a very constant Valencia CF to win a slow Getafe, which only awoke after Quique抯 men抯 second goal. Joaqu韓 made its debut. Joaquin was delighted to make his debut for Valencia in yesterday's 2-0 defeat of Getafe.

Joaquin said: "I am happy with the victory. The truth is that I am very happy with the debut and because the team has won.

"We knew how to take the chances when they came and that's what gave us the victory."

Along with Joaquin, Valencia coach Quique Flores also handed a surprise recall to veteran defender Roberto Ayala after a summer of frustrating contract talks.

Ayala said: "The fans never needed to give me respect, on the contrary, I am very grateful to them all. The team is in good shape and we're showing the quality needed to win these sort of games."

Valencia to land Getafe defender Alexis

Valencia are expected to sign Getafe defender Alexis at the end of this season.

The two clubs enjoy a strong relationship and Valencia are expected to pay Alexis' £6 million buyout clause next June.
