Dah berapa lama hang dok sana? Dah bole bahasa org sana ke? They say that Norwegians spoke the same language as the Icelandic do now a long time ago...

Dah lima tahun +.
Tv kat sini ada "airkan" Norwegian film. It sound almost like the Swensk but little stiff( in terms of language) My Iceman tak faham sangat Norwegian. That day I asked him if he could speak and understand,... he said " Litin"
Icelandic language are kept as orignial as it can be. Not much of language evolution since the old saga磗. The Vikings spoke the language as it was in the saga磗. I dunno if it磗 true. Marah pulak org org kat sini.
and as boleh tak speaking Icelandic. boleh la sikit sikit and am not very proud of my language skills. Out of practise and taking english for granted. When it comes to reading, I have no problems only understanding it
And you? Do you speak Norsk?
I think Norsk and Dansk lebih kurang sama. betul tak? |

Kitorang mmg ade plan nak pi Iceland, bilanya tak pasti lagik la...
I respect betul la ngan Icelanders...semangat patriotik diorang pada bahasa ibunda diorang....and it is true that the Vikings spoke the same language as the Icelanders now. How cool is that eh...
And there's also a reason why the Vikings named Iceland as Iceland and Greenland as Greenland.
I speak Norsk quite fluently...I speak only norsk with my son, Mikael...and 70% with my hubby...but bila I tak puas hati kat dia I guna BI
Ha'ah Norsk, Dansk and Svensk adik beradik...mcm BM ngan bahasa Indon...
Kat sana ramai komuniti Asia tak? |

It's excellent when a foreigner can speak the language of the country they are in.
Yes the Icelaners are patriotic lot. For a foreigner here to get Icelandic citizenship, they must take icelandic lesson at least 150 hours. Every Icelanders, first will speak Icelandic to a foreigner, and will stwitch to English when one don't understand after the first attempt.
Asian komuniti kat sini banyak lah jugak.. paling banyak are the Filipinos.. kemudian the Thais and Indonesians. Orang dari tanah melayu are 21 in total. saya kenal cuma 4 orang. Singaporean ada bout 8 or 10. Yg nicenya, bila jumpa tak kira from tanah Melayu ke, Indonesia ke,.. Singapore ke... semua cakap melayu.
Cuaca kat sini, berbeza di 4 penjuru pulau, one thing for sure is. it is always windy.
The north and east of Iceland, esp Akurery gets more frequant good summer temperature.. from between 9 degrees up to 20 degrees.
The west and southpulak suhu musim panas diantara 8 degrees to 18 degrees.
Yg saya perassan, suhu at 12 degrees pun dah cukup terik and panas esp kalau the sun is shining bright. |

Norwegians pun patriotik kat bahasa ibunda depa...but not as much as the Icelanders... English diorang cam ne plak ok tak?
susah tak nak cari rempah ratus/ sayur2an dr. asia kat sana?
My hubby dah penah visit kat Reykjavik...cosy place he said.
Kalau 12 degrees dah rasa panas tu maknanya u dah climatize la tu ngan cuaca kat sana..
U dah tau ke belum apsal Iceland dipanggil Iceland and Greenland dipanggil Greenland? Can anyone in this forum make a guess?

Rempah ratus yg saya bawak dari malaysia, ialah serbuk kari babas and cap burung nuri. Rempah macam tu yg ada kat sini rasa tak sedap no.. umph.
Yg tak dapat di beli kat sini, saya seludup masuk.. iaitu, bunga kantan and daun kari.
Sayuran senang nak dapat, we have about 3 asian groceries in Reykjavik. Tapi masa nak masak tu, terpikir saya.. tenting punyalah banyak racun serangga yg di guna pada sayur sayur tersebut sbb.. satu lubang pun takada pada daun.
Are you climatize with the climate there? I hate winter and snow. of having to wrap up in many layers of cloathings and walking on icy path and ... argh.... you know.
Iceland got its name from a Norwegian Viking.... who saw ice floting in the sea and he purposly choosed it because he did not want anyone to take the land first.
and Greenland ,, named Green.. land to attract settlers by Eric the Red. |

Oh yes.. cili kering, dari Malaysia lah yg paling best, yg di jual di sini semuanya kecik kecik tak lawa. Buah keras ada di jual kat sini.
Asian food popular kat sini. There are 2 Indian restaurants, Thais about 4 and Chinese about 5 or 6. Tapi kan asian food dia dah lain tak sedap. Buat sediri lagi sedap.
The stores here have more varieties of vegies and fruits lately because of immigrants. When I first came here five yrs ago. Macam nak nangis sbb sayuran semuanya tak lawa and kurang segar. |

Don't know how long we'll be staying there...my hubby pindah kerja and he has to work there for at least a year .... I take this a a challange ... if we don't like us there we always have Bergen to go back to.... I tak tau cam ne I'm going to take the dark winter season ....the sun won't show up at all for more than 3 months (I think)
Walking sticks ...you mean like the one they use in Nordic Walk ...it looks like the pair of sticks they use with the ski but minus the ski ... |
