Hayato Ichihara stars in "Wild Life" drama, movie

MasatoFujisaki's popular manga series "Wild Life" is being turned into atelevision drama and a live-action movie, both starring young actorHayato Ichihara.
The manga tells the story of a veterinariannamed Tessho who uses his extraordinary hearing to save animals' lives.It began serialization in Shonen Sunday in 2003 and ended last month.In 2006, it won a Shogakukan Manga Award.
Movie distributor GAGAinitially had plans for a film adaptation, and they teamed up with NHKto first create a television version. Filming took place at the end oflast year and included locations in Thailand and China. Three episodeswere originally planned, but the death of a giraffe led to thecancellation of one of them. The other two episodes, dealing with anelephant and a panda, will air on NHK's Hi-Vision satellite channel onMarch 24-25.
The movie starts shooting next year and isscheduled for theatrical release before the year ends. Africa and theNorth Pole are said to be possible locations for the film.
For the television drama, Ichihara's supporting cast includes Riisa Naka, Tetsuji Tamayama, Mitsuru Fukikoshi, and Akira Emoto.

KEITAI DORAMA
Erika Toda stars in keitai drama based on Monkey Majik song

The latest creation from Fuji TV's "mudra" ("music + drama") project stars actress Erika Toda. Produced in collaboration with FUJIPACIFIC MUSIC, "mudra" are short dramas based on songs that are then distributed online.
Toda's drama is based on the song "Lily," which was released by the band Monkey Majik while they were still on an independent label. Directed by Fuji TV's Michio Mitsuno and written by Yumiko Inoue, the comical story depicts a young woman (Toda) sending a video letter to her ex-boyfriend (Yoshihiko Hosoda).
The drama consists of 3 episodes, each roughly 5-7 minutes in length. The episodes will be sold for 210 yen apiece, available for mobile phones through NTT DoCoMo's iMovie Gate site starting on the 20th, and through Fuji TV's Fuji Melo site starting on March 3.

NEW SPRING DORAMA
Shaku returns for "Shichinin no Onna Bengoshi"

This spring, TV Asahi will broadcast a 5th series of "Shichinin no Onna Bengoshi." Like the last series, which aired in 2006, Yumiko Shaku plays the lead role among a group of seven female lawyers.
  
Returning cast members include Yoko Nogiwa, Sachie Hara, and Masaru Nagai. Chizuru Azuma, Tomoko Nakajima (Othello), Rieko Miura, and Saori Takizawa are new additions.
The series starts in April and will air on Thursdays at 9:00pm.

Tsutsumi, Matsuyuki cast in "Galileo" movie

It was announced on Monday that Shinichi Tsutsumi and Yasuko Matsuyuki have been cast in the movie "Yougisha x no Kenshin," based on an award-winning novel by Keigo Higashino.
The novel is part of the "Tantei Galileo" series, which was the basis of a Fuji TV drama series this past fall. The drama, titled "Galileo," starred Masaharu Fukuyama as the brilliant physicist Manabu Yukawa, who helps a detective (Kou Shibasaki) solve baffling crimes.
Fukuyama and Shibasaki, along with the main cast of the TV series, are reprising their roles for the movie. Matsuyuki plays a suspected murderer, while Tsutsumi plays Yukawa's true opponent, a mathematical genius.
The movie, which was announced in October, is being directed by Hiroshi Ni#ani. Filming has been under way since mid-January, and production is expected to be finished in time for a fall release.

NEW SPRING DORAMA
Yu Aoi's first drama lead in "Osen" adaptation

NTV is producing a drama adaptation of Shota Kikuchi's "Osen" manga series, which currently runs in Kodansha's magazine Evening.
The drama will feature rising actress Yu Aoi in the lead role. Aoi has starred in several movies and currently stars in the WOWOW series "Yu Aoi x Yottsu no Uso: Camouflage," but this will be her first lead in a television drama on a major network.
Aoi plays Sen Handa, the "okami" (proprietress) of a long-standing restaurant in one of the lower parts of Tokyo. Though she is normally airheaded and loves to drink, she has an impressive mastery of a wide range skills, from cooking to ceramics to calligraphy. While the drama follows various events surrounding the restaurant, one of the series' highlights is its illustration of Japanese food and culture.
Filming starts at the end of March. The show begins in April, airing on Tuesdays at 10:00pm.

Takeuchi, Nakamura finally divorce

Yuko Takeuchi and Shido Nakamura have finally settled their divorce. Management for both celebrities issued a fax to the media on Friday announcing the news. Earlier that day, Nakamura and his lawyer officially turned in the divorce papers.
Takeuchi and Nakamura starred together in the 2004 film "Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu." They got married the following June, and Takeuchi gave birth to their son five months later.
In 2006, Nakamura was caught for drunk driving. It was later revealed that actress Aya Okamoto was with him at the time, while other rumors linked Nakamura to actress Saki Takaoka on another occasion. With their relationship damaged, Takeuchi began seeking a divorce that October and soon began living separately with their son, who is now in her custody.

Hey! Say! JUMP members co-star in drama special

Hey! Say! JUMP members Yuto Nakajima, Ryosuke Yamada, Yuri Chinen, and Daiki Arioka will co-star in an NTV drama special this April, titled "Sensei wa Erai!"
Nakajima, Chinen, and Arioka play three useless students at a public junior high school. At first, they find their homeroom teacher dull and bothersome, but an incident leads them to take a liking to him. Along with their former classmate (Yamada) who now attends a private school, the students unite to transform their teacher into a respectable guy.
The actor playing the teacher has not yet been revealed. Filming will start in mid-March, with broadcast planned for an unspecified date in April.
