Syarikat Britain minat beli pasukan F1 Honda?
LONDON - Syarikat milik ahli perniagaan Britain, Richard Branson, Virgin Group membuat penawaran untuk membeli pasukan Formula Satu Honda, menurut sumber terdekat pengeluar kereta Jepun itu kepada agensi berita antarabangsa, Reuters, semalam.
"Mereka telah mengemukakan tawaran membeli pasukan ini,'' kata satu sumber.
Jurucakap Branson bagaimanapun enggan mengulas perkara itu, sebaliknya berkata, Virgin Group kerap kali dikaitkan dengan spekulasi dan khabar angin.
"Kami tidak mahu komen tentang spekulasi ini,'' kata jurucakap Honda.
Difahamkan, penawaran tersebut mampu merosakkan rancangan pembelian yang diketuai oleh ketua eksekutif ketika ini, Nick Fry, prinsipal pasukan, Ross Brawn dan tiga lagi eksekutif senior Honda Racing.
Ketika musim baru Formula Satu bakal bermula di Australia pada 29 Mac ini, masa yang sudah terlalu suntuk dijangka mendorong syarikat pengeluar Jepun itu membuat keputusan selewatnya pada akhir bulan ini, malah mungkin dalam masa beberapa hari.
Honda menawarkan pasukan Formula Satu untuk dijual pada Disember lalu selepas mengumumkan untuk menarik diri sebagai pengeluar dan pembekal enjin Formula Satu atas alasan masalah ekonomi global.
Keputusan tersebut menyebabkan karier pemandu Britain, Jenson Button tidak menentu, begitu juga dengan nasib 700 pekerja pasukan.
Branson pernah terlibat dalam perlumbaan Formula Satu, memainkan peranan kecil apabila syarikatnya, Virgin Mobile menjadi penaja kepada pasukan Jordan pada 2002.

Branson linked with Honda bid
Richard Branson's Virgin Group has made a bid for the Honda Formula One team, according to a source close to the Japanese manufacturer.
"They have made a bid to purchase the team," the source, who declined to be identified, told Reuters.
A spokeswoman for Branson declined to comment, saying the Virgin Group was "constantly named in speculation and rumour".
"We do not comment on speculation," added a Honda team spokeswoman.
Ifconfirmed, the offer could scupper a planned management buyout beingled by the team's current chief executive Nick Fry, principal RossBrawn and three other senior Honda Racing executives.
With theseason due to start in Australia on March 29 and time running out for arescue of the Brackley-based team, a decision by the Japanesemanufacturer is likely by the end of the month and possibly within days.
Hondaput their team up for sale in December after announcing they werewithdrawing from Formula One as a constructor and engine supplier dueto the global credit crunch.
The decision left the career of British driver Jenson Button in limbo while also threatening the jobs of the team's 700 employees.
Branson has been involved with F1 before in a minor role, his Virgin Mobile company sponsoring the Jordan team in 2002.
Virgin Atlantic Japan have also been personal sponsors of Honda-backed Japanese driver Takuma Sato for the past four years.
Sato lost his place in the sport last year when the Super Aguri team folded and an attempted comeback with Toro Rosso failed when that team gave Frenchman Sebastien Bourdais the nod instead for 2009.
Branson is a friend and business associate of Adrian Reynard, co-founder of the BAR team that became Honda in 2006. The Honda team factory is situated in Reynard Park.
The source did now know whether Reynard was involved in any bid, however.
