Nigel De Jong: Manchester City Are Painting The Town BlueAccording to the Dutchman, the Citizens have eclipsed the Red Devils as the talk of Manchester...


Nigel de Jong believes that Manchester City, not their illustrious neighbours Manchester United, are now the pride of the town.

City have stolen the headlines this summer with their spending spree, and De Jong  thinks that they have the upper hand over their rivals.

He told The Sun, "The city is blue already.

"I've been amazed by that. But now on the expectancy side and performance side, it can be blue, not only red.

"[Carlos] Tevez is coming from United and he has mixed feelings, but Manchester City are making a point that nothing is impossible. We can buy who we want."

De Jong then lauded Tevez's potential, continuing, "Carlos is one of those people who is fighting for every inch on the pitch.

"He did it for United and I'm happy he's with us now. He can help us as a 12th man.

"There are not many strikers who do that, but he is one. It's important to have that steel, that fighting mentality.

"It's what Manchester City stands for, that fighting spirit."

Usaha terakhir untuk dapatkan kapten Chelsea

LONDON: Manchester City akan membuat tawaran sensasi saat terakhir dengan menawarkan gaji £1 juta (RM5.89 juta) sebulan kepada kapten Chelsea, John Terry dalam usaha mendapatkan tandatangannya.

Chelsea semakin yakin mereka mampu mencapai persetujuan untuk mengekalkan tonggak pertahanan tengah itu, tetapi Mark Hughes sudah diberitahu oleh pemilik City untuk mendapatkan kapten England ‘tanpa mengira kos’. Mereka juga bersedia untuk membayar £50 juta (RM348.5 juta) untuk ‘mencurinya’ daripada Chelsea.

Barcelona To Face Manchester City In Gamper Trophy

The Citizens will travel to the Camp Nou in mid-August for a high-profile friendly...

Manchester City have been confirmed as Barcelona's opponents for this year's Joan Gamper Trophy.

The match is the traditional curtain-raiser to the season at the Camp Nou, occurring on the day that the squad is officially presented to the fans.

Both clubs have confirmed that Man City will be the guests this season, with the match to take place on August 19.

Interestingly, while Barca will only have played one official game (the Spanish Super Cup first leg), City will already have started their Premier League campaign, and the match will fall in between their encounters with Blackburn Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The two sides have met five times previously, all of which were friendlies. City won the last encounter 2-1, the same margin by which Barca won last season's Gamper, against Boca Juniors.
