Ratings: CHELSEA
Petr Cech - 6: Made a superb double save in the second-half but his blunder at a corner gifted Arsenal their goal. Cudicini...
Paolo Ferreira - 6: Competent without being outstanding. He conceded the corner from which Gallas scored, but he had no option. Belletti mana???:@
Alex - 6.5: Nearly scored an own goal with a panicky back-header, but frustrated Adebayor on several occasions and roamed forward threateningly for set-pieces.
John Terry - 6.5: Typically whole-hearted while he was on, throwing himself into tackles, some of which were borderline, but lending authority to the Chelsea back-line until he was injured and had to leave the game.
Ashley Cole - 7: Stood up well to the constant barracking and gave as good as he got in the physical stakes against erstwhile team-mates.
Shaun Wright-Phillips - 5.5: A disappointing performance from SWP, who could not get the better of Clichy, and showed lapses of judgement in attack - shooting when he should have passed in the first-half and then shooting wide to squander an outstanding chance from four yards out in the second.
John Obi Mikel - 6.5:
Put himself about in midfield but was more destructive than creative.
Claude Makelele - 7:Effective and efficient in front of the back-four, which is his job and one he does better than most - but Chelsea could on occasion use him to be more adventurous in possession.
Frank Lampard - 5.5:Disappointing from the England man, on a day when Chelsea needed him to impose himself on the game, he was largely anonymous. His strength is getting on the end of attacks with midfield runs; there were none of those today.
Joe Cole - 6: Some neat touches and astute passes, but overall there was more style than substance, and little end-product.
Andriy Shevchenko - 6.5:Two decent strikes on goal from the Ukraine striker, who toiled manfully upfront on his own but still looks several notches below the player Milan knew.
Substitutes:
Tal Ben-Haim - 6:Was nudged side by Gallas for the goal, after replacing Terry. First time on the losing side against Arsenal, and his involvement was more artisan than artful.
Claudio Pizarro - 5.5: Made little difference to Chelsea's attacking strength or options when he came on.
Salomon Kalou - 5.5: Not on long enough to make an impact or affect the outcome.
