Espanyol have told their winger Albert Reira that he has just 72 hours before the decision regarding his switch to Liverpool will be made.
It seems that the Reds are ahead in the race to sign the Spanish International after claiming that talks between Rafael Benitez抯 side and Espanyol were 揼oing well", on their official website. This is despite Liverpool having offered less for Riera than their Merseyside rivals Everton
Earlier reports suggested that Liverpool had agreed to pay |

Kuyt leaves it late for Liverpool
Wednesday 27 August 2008Match report
Dirk Kuyt marked his 100th appearance for Liverpool FC with a late extra-time goal that took his side past R. Standard de Li鑗e and into the UEFA Champions League group stage
Kuyt strikes
The aggregate score was goalless when the game began and 118 minutes at Anfield did not change that fact. But Liverpool have won both their Premier League games this season with late strikes and Kuyt stole in to apply a finishing touch to substitute Ryan Babel's cross, meaning that for the fifth consecutive campaign Rafael Ben韙ez has led the Reds through qualifying in this competition.
Reina saves
Standard had the better of the first leg, with Pepe Reina making a string of saves including from Dante Bonfim's penalty, but it was Liverpool who began the brighter tonight. Fernando Torres was denied by a last-ditch tackle as early as the third minute. However, Reina was called into action to turn away Dieudonn |

GERRARD INJURY BLOW FOR REDS
Paul Hassall at Anfield 27 August 2008
Liverpool's progress to the Champions League group stage has come at a cost after Rafael Benitez revealed the news that Steven Gerrard will undergo an operation on his groin on Thursday.
The Reds boss admitted it was a blow to lose his skipper but is hopeful he will make a speedy recovery after he played the full 120 minutes of Liverpool's extra-time win at home to Standard Liege.
"I'm disappointed because Gerrard will have an operation tomorrow," he said.
"He has a groin problem. We knew it could be like this and I was surprised when I was reading some of the newspapers saying he has to play and has to start but he had a problem and now he will have an operation and will be out for 10-15 days.
"It isn't too much because he needs to have it because he is having pain with it. When he went with the national team we knew he had a problem and in the first-leg too.
"I was talking with the doctor yesterday and today we talked with him. He said he would play with pain and after it he would have an operation.
"He knew he had to keep going tonight because he was having the operation tomorrow." |
