kat radio warna ramai complain abt rentak singapura yg diadakan semalam at downtown east.. apsal ismail harun tak nyanyi secara solo & segmen dia pendek aje.. padahal 1/2 yg datang sebab nak dengar ismail nyanyi..

FUAD Rahman is turning out to be the poster boy of second chances. The 27-year-old local singer once served jail time, counted juvenile delinquents among his friends and has three tattoos on his body to go with his bad-boy image.

But all that is in the past.
Now, he is removing his tattoos - a large tribal design on his right arm and two smaller ones on his left shoulder.
Said Fuad, who was clad in a black baseball jacket for the interview: 'I usually don't wear short-sleeved shirts or sleeveless T-shirts when I perform in public.
'As a Muslim, tattoos are frowned upon and I don't want to send (out) the wrong message to my fans.'
The tattoos were done in 'another life', he added, when he was a hot-tempered young man hanging out with the wrong crowd.
'I was also a drummer with a metal band then. I got the tattoos because I thought it was part of the rocker image.'
The former skinhead spent nine months in prison for a fight that occurred a decade ago. He was hit with the jail term soon after he came in second at the 2003 Anugerah finals, the Suria talent contest. Then touted as the next big thing in Malay showbiz, Fuad's conviction cast a shadow over his burgeoning career.
But once he was released from jail, he bounced back with the success of his debut album last year, Satu (One), which sold more than 1,000 copies in its first month of release. The first single Bila Rindu (Longing) also hit the top of the Ria charts.
Fans are crazy over his rock-star image, which was apparent during Singapore's official Hari Raya 'light-up' last Friday, when he performed in Bugis with Man Toyak, the former lead singer of local metal band Tribe.
The star, who has been married for three years, said getting rid of his tattoos was a way of moving forward.
'I am doing this for my son,' he explained, pulling out his handphone to reveal a picture of cherubic 2-year-old Mohd Ashriq Ali.
'I am also doing this for my fans to tell them 'don't do what I did. You'll regret it'.'
When approached, his management team, Jems Promotions, said it did not want pictures of his tattoos published during Ramadan, adding it had won him an endorsement deal with a plastic surgeon to remove them.
'It was something that I had wanted to do for a long time, whether I had the endorsement or not,' he said.
Fuad began the laser surgery before Ramadan and believed it would take at least six months to remove everything.
'It feels like lots of ants biting you at the same time. It is not that bad. The doctor said that the laser would leave little scarring, which is good news.'
Fuad's second album is scheduled for release in time for Hari Raya next month.
'This album is a mix of ska (a form of Jamaican music) and rock. It will have simple songs, nothing too elaborate,' he said.
'People will know the true Fuad.' |
