Back to topic at hand, AK-47 proved to be so popular amongst resistance armed groups, AK-47 image becomes part of their logo:

"Of all the weapons in the vast soviet arsenal, nothing was more profitable than Avtomat Kalashnikova model of 1947. More commonly known as the AK-47, or Kalashnikov. It's the world's most popular assault rifle. A weapon all fighters love. An elegantly simple 9 pound amalgamation of forged steel and plywood. It doesn't break, jam, or overheat. It'll shoot whether it's covered in mud or filled with sand. It's so easy, even a child can use it; and they do. The Soviets put the gun on a coin. Mozambique put it on their flag. Since the end of the Cold War, the Kalashnikov has become the Russian people's greatest export. After that comes vodka, caviar, and suicidal novelists. One thing is for sure, no one was lining up to buy their cars."
-Yuri Orlov, Lord of War
Petikan di atas adalah dialog mengenai AK-47 oleh watak saudagar senjatapi haram, Yuri Orlov yg dilakonkan oleh Nicholas Cage. Best movie Lord of War nihh. |

You people seem to like AK a lot. So why use the Styer and M4? |

You don't make decision sbased on what Che Guevara uses. |

Then what is your choice of combat rifle, technical-wise? |

SR21 is good. Accurate, very robust and don't overheat or jam in tropical weather. Bullpup design makes it shorter and suitable for fibua. The laser pointer is handy because I can never hit targets w/o aiming and this will let me shoot from the hip quickly and accurately.
I don't really like 7.62 because I find the rounds too heavy. The arguments against 5.56 is that it does not penetrate some walls but I think a squad MG or m203 will do that if necessary with better effect.
I would however prefer AK to M16 because M16 jams too much in tropical weather, that to me is deadly. I guess thats why we dumped the M16 just like why we dumped the M113 because it breakdown too easily. |

Get this in your thick skull .... MOST OF US HERE ARE CIVILIANS!
We are enthusiasts of all things MILITARY!
Just because we may like the durability & elegance of AK-47, IT WILL NOT AFFECT MALAYSIA MILITARY PROCUREMENT! |
