wa dengar M4 US Army dibuat oleh satu kompeni nama Sabre Defence.
kita punya dibuat secara berlesen drp Colt.
Apapon kena ingat, weapons are made usually by the lowest bidder.
when you pay peanuts, you must expect to get a lot of monkeys

Bila la Mesia nak maju dalam industri pertahanan.. Sedangkan Indonesia dah ada PINDAD SS2 manakala red dot pula dah lama gunakan senjata buatan sendiri SAR 80/88 dan SAR21.. Mesia tak abis2 nak copy orang.. Agaknya SME kena pergi SABAH belajar buat bekakok (senjata api buatan sendiri) kat orang kampung ataupun buat meriam buluh je..

tu la, wa ckp kalo you pay peanuts, beli OICW  pon dpt monkeys ler

MMEA dulu pakai HK MP-5 tapi licensed copy punya la. dibuat oleh MKEK dan kualitinya sedikit kurang memberansangkan berbanding HK ori. tapi sikalang dgrnya dah diganti. ganti dgn G36 mungkin?

kesimpulannya, kalo cuma ada duit mau beli Myvi tuh, jgn la berangan mau pakai Passo. nanti dpt Myvi yg menyamar jadi Passo hehehe...

Styer is a good weapon. Why you should change to damn stuff like m4? m4 is just like a toys. Yes m4 is very accurate. But if you take it to the jungle. Well...

On what basis do you call the M4 a toy? Most likely you never shot an M4 or M16. Malaysian soldier's that I had spoken to all professed a preference for the M4, not for it's accuracy but greater reliability in the jungle. Seems like the m'sian army steyrs don't like water and jams easily when wet. Not exactly ideal for M'sia's climate.

In my experience, the M4 is better from an ergonomic stand point.

M4/ M16 versions have been around since the 60's and developed through many variations.. Of course the weaknesses stated are apparant.. but then, every SOF in the world would use the M16 or M4 carbine for their use ( with the exception of Spetnaz of course).. Even the SAS would rather prefer the M16/M4 rather than their own SA80 assault rifle..  Why is this?  Whats important is the person handling the rifle..

New doesn't always mean better.. For example, the AK-47 has been around since 1947 till now and has been copied into various versions from Warsaw nations to China.. though not as accurate compared to the M16/M4... due to its operating system, its strengths cannot be denied such as ease of use ( a 13 year old child can fire the Ak47 after 10 minutes training).. and it can stand extensive abuse + cheap. ......... Sori.. kuar topik pi AK47 jap...

The M4 Carbine

M203 on M4 Carbine

The 5.56mm M-16 has been the USA’s primary battle rifle since the Vietnam war, undergoing changes into progressive versions like the M16A2 widely fielded by the US Marine Corps, “Commando” carbine versions, et. al. The M4 Carbine is the latest member of the M16 family, offering a shorter weapon more suited to close-quarters battle, or use by units who would find a full-length rifle too bulky.

The M4 offers a collapsible buttstock, flat-top upper receiver assembly, a U-shaped handle-rear sight assembly that could be removed, and assortment of mounting rails for easy customization with a variety of sight, flashlight, grenade launchers, shotgun attachments, et. al. It achieves approximately 85% commonality with the M16, and has become a popular weapon. It has a reputation for lightness, customizability, and, compared to its most frequent rival the AK-47, a reputation for accuracy as well. The carbine’s reputation for fast-point close-quarters fire remains its most prominent feature, however. After Action Reviews done by the Marines after the early phases of Operation Iraqi Freedom revealed that urban warfare scenarios made employment of the M16A2 difficult in some situations; Marines were picking up short AK-47s with collapsible butt-stocks, or scrounging pistols for use inside buildings.

Like its predecessor the M16, the M4 also has a reputation as an excellent weapon – if you can maintain it. Failure to maintain the weapon meticulously can lead to jams, especially in sandy or dusty environments. Kalashnikovs may not have a reputation for accuracy, or lightness – but they do have a well-earned reputation for being able to take amazing amounts of abuse, without maintenance, and still fire reliably. The Israeli “Galil” applied these lessons in 5.56mm caliber, and earned a similar reputation. Colt’s M16 and M4 have never done so.

The original order for the M4 Carbine in the mid-1990s was a small-scale order, for a specifically requested derivative of the Army’s primary battle rifle, to equip units who would otherwise have relied on less accurate 9mm submachine guns. As such, its direct development and sole-source contract status raised little fuss. Subsequent contracts also raised little scrutiny.

So, what changed?

Extended combat in dusty, sandy environments that highlighted the weapon’s weak points as well as its comparative strengths, leading to escalating volumes of complaints;
The emergence of alternatives that preserve those strengths, while addressing those weak points;
The scale of the current request for funding.
....................................................................................................................................................................

However... If given an alternative, I would prefer the HK 416 or even the SCAR..

" HK decided to cure the existing M16 rifles and  M4 carbines from most of their problems, inherent to this 40-years old design. The key improvements, made by HK, are their patented short-stroke gas piston system, borrowed from HK G36 rifle. This system replaced the direct gas system of standard M16 rifle, so no powder residue will remain in the receiver even after long shooting sessions. The "new" gas system also is self-regulating and will work reliably with any barrel length. Other improvements include new buffer assembly, improved bolt, and a cold hammer forged barrel, as well as free-floating handguard with integral Picatinny-type rails. Originally developed as a "drop-in" upper receiver assembly for any standard M16/M4 type lower receiver, HK416 is also available as a complete weapon, with HK-made lower receivers. Current (late 2005) models include carbines with 10.5" and 14.5" barrels, and 16.5" barreled carbine and 20" barreled rifle will be added later. "

Diff btwn Styer and M4.
Styer overheats more easily.
M4 is same as M16, sensitive to dust and carbon build up.

Steyr ni OK kalau dibuat secara berkualiti. Aku percaya tujuan ATM guna Steyr dulu pasal diorang nampak kelebihan bullpup design ni pada keupayaan infantri (nak keluar masuk APC, terjun dri a/c, keluar dri heli, lalu dlm bangunan sempit masa FIBUA).
