kak BM please advise on the table tuh...seen a clinic precribing promethazine to a under 2 yr old ...

...as indicated...promethazine memang tak disarankan for children less than 2 years old...chloramine can be given for children who are 6 months and above...and for a 5 1/2 months...it can be given also if the dr is of the opinion that it will benefit the child....dosage will be based on the baby's body weight...special advice need to be given to the parents to strictly adhere to the dosage and the frequency...and if let say the baby vomitted after taking the medicine...do not feed the child with the medication again...
...for infants yang dah 2 years and above...and if given syrup chloramine together with syrup promethazine...it is advised to give these 2 medicines separately to prevent the child from becoming too drowsy or sleepy...and the caregiver must be alert in monitoring the child level of consciousness also...

tq..lega hati...br jek anak i telan piriton sbb dok alergik gatal....tp anak i takat piriton takde la ngantuk sgt..tp one day kite yg telan ubat batuk, kita 'pengsa'..dia pun pengsan sama...punya ler kuat ubat batuk tuhh..ubat selsema generasi baru like ceterizine n loratadine selamat la ek for 6 mo n above? |

Untuk budak2 di bawah 2 tahun, tidak digalakkan untuk mengambil antihistamine (Piriton, Actifed, Loratadine, Promethazine, etc) dan cough mixture (contoh: benadryl) kerana mungkin akan menyebabkan sleep apnoea (berhenti bernafas semasa tido --> sangat bahaya).
kalau ada selsema teruk sangat sampai ada wheezing (nafas bunyi), boleh ambil Ventolin Syrup (mengikut berat anak)
jangan ambik ubat sebarangan kerana ditakuti anak anda allergy terhadap ubat tersebut.
