guama fruit (a.k.a ice cream pod)

"An unusual fruit that resembles a giant bean pod, with a sweet, refreshing, cotton like edible fiber on the inside. The pods are generally narrow, straight, and sometimes as long as a person's forearm. They can easily be cracked open to expose the white, sugar-rich pulp, similar to cotton candy, surrounding the seeds. In English they have been called ?ice-cream beans? due to the sweet flavor and smooth texture of the pulp."

We have this fruit in Puerto Rico, and I must say it is delicious. Unfortunately, it is not very easy to find.

Monstera Deliciosa

a creeping vine native to tropical rainforests of southern Mexico south to Colombia... [with] fruit up to 10 inches long and 1.5 inches in diameter, looking like a green ear of maize covered with hexagonal scales.

It was mild, it was not slimy, the distinct kernels were approximately as crunchy as overcooked corn. The flavor was a mild pineapple meets a white grape.
